Fuel Pressure Regulator

Featured Replies

In the process of changing my Fuel Pressure Regulator

Currently I'ver got a 4bar OE VW unit, and was planning on replacing it with an adjustable 3-5 bar unit.

The engine has 550CC injectors fitted, and needs to have the fuel pressure reduced.

The unit I was thinking of was one of these, Ebay item number: 220561479942

Any one got a fitting tips or had any experrience of them ?

Very nice

I noticed in the blurp " Uses original Bosch regulator " ...

?? surely they don't mean you mount your existing FPR into the top  ??

Don't like the price-tag: £147.98 delivered :o

Yeah bit pricey! I hadn't looked that far!

No it means the lower portion (the bit with the seals etc.) is Bosch made, but they have modified the original Bosch part by brazing that new adjustable top on it. If you look carefully at the pics you can see it. I guess they turn off the top of the original, and fit an adjustable spring seat in there....

That does make more sense !

How useful would a fuel pressure gauge really be ?

Seen connectors for them on a number of FPRs'

Just had a quick look to see how they make it adjustable. This is the original: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5967177.pdf

So they just vary the spring pre-load with an adjustable top spring seat.

The one in the photo you posted will use the same principle, but maybe not using a Bosch FPR as a base part. Reliability will be mainly down to the diaphragm/o-ring material and the seal between the new top piece and original body.

I'm guessing its a copy of a Genesis Adjustable FPR

The sale seller that does the OEM style FPR, also does this beefier looking bit of kit (with reloaction kit), Item number: 270444812662

Same price, so maybe same quality ?

ps

These FuelLab FPR's look quite fancy (so's the price !)

Yeah you're probably better off sticking to one that fits into the original fuel rail (like the ECS or Genesis ones). Unless you have some fancy aftermarket fuel rail after fitting the different injectors.... Those other ones just look a bit OTT!
