Is this anything to worry about?

Does anyone know how much coolant in the system? i.e. how many bottles will I need to buy and should it be about 50/50 with water?

Get two bottles (they will be 1.5 litres if the proper stuff), and it says what mixes to use on the back of the bottle based on temperature.

You should be buying this: http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_IV--1.8T/Engine/Cooling/Coolant/ES5652/

Thanks, I collected it about an hour ago. I did buy 2 bottles anyway and that is the stuff. it was £7.17 + VAT from a local VW dealer

Changed my stat this morning, took about 2 hours which I thought was ok considering it was -3.5 outside!!!

Temp gauge in the car gets to 90 and seems to stay there now so I'm well pleased but one question I have is that the bottom hose from the radiator that goes to the stat still doesn't get hot? Is that just normal in the cold weather?
