Bolero firmware

Featured Replies

Am about to try using the SD card slot for first time using mp3 and/or wma files.

Complete novice on this issue.

Can the 2 file types be mixed on an SD card?. File structure required to work ?

Have followed the 'slow sd card read ' issue on this forum.

Does the 2011 model year Yeti have the latest firmware and

does it correct this problem?

What is the latest version and if needed to update can the SKODA dealer

upgrade it.?

Any general advice on setting up SD cards for use in Bolero unit appreciated.

I intend using 8gb Class 6 Kingston SDHC cards.

It seems that the only way to check is to actually try your Bolero and see if it reads slowly or not - a 2011 car should be okay though.

Mp3's and wma's(unprotected) can co-exist.

The dealer only seems to realise there is an update if they connect the car to their diagnostics.

I use one folder per album and all the folders in the root to keep it neat. Make sure that you've got the relevant ID tags written in the music files so that you can also see what you're listening to.

Is it a chargeable item for dealer to check ??..... as my dealer has been a pain so far as

getting the correct spare wheel kit for 2011 model year and I ended up printing

a complete thread on the issue from this forum to educate them.

Was left 2+ weeks without spare wheel or compressor and gunge (purchased demo car without it

and they lost compressor and gunge) which he told me was not an

inconvienience!!

It somewhat soured our relationship and I now like to know the

facts before pursuing issues.

Honda dealers I found generally more clued up and super efficient in my experience

(new to Skoda ownership).

It should not be chargeable, and if he tries that tell you will be in touch with SUK forthwith. Where are you, as someone might be able to recommend a better dealer nearby?

Re the SD card....can someone explain how slow slow is?

Mine is loaded with a mixture of WMA from CD's and MP3 files, and reads it as track 1 from each CD, then track 2 etc, then does the MP3's.

Have a read of these threads:- No.1, No.2 & No.3 and you'll find everything that you need to know.

I'm glad I only speak English and a bit of Welsh, because I certainly don't speak geek! Some of that stuff is way beyond me. Think I shall be happy as I am! B)

I must admit that there is a lot to go through and some of it does look a bit geek.

In saying that, if you find out that you have the older firmware then installing this program by DanishViking will automatically make all the relevant playlists and speed up your card to make it as fast as it should be.

I got my Yeti yesterday. All I did at home was drag MP3 files from my Macbook to the SD card. I put it in the Bolero and hey presto they all played. It took about 2 or 3 seconds to boot up. Job done. I don't know about wma files though as I did not drag these or any Apple only files over.

SD and SDHC cards have a "rating" Class 1 to whatever. There is no point in using a card rated higher than the device as in that case it will only run at the device rating. So putting a Class 10 card in a camera only rated to Class 6 is a waste.

However if you put a Class 4 card in a a Class 6 rated device it will only run at the slower (Class 4) speed.

Does anyone know what rating the Bolero is?

class 1?emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Same as Columbus (whatever that is)?

I think that even a class 1 card would stream fast enough to let you hear your favourite X Factor tunes. It might take an eternity to write them to it though. B)

The Columbus will quite happily play a 'slow' sd card from a Bolero at the normal speed.

I'm used to just hooking up my iPod Touch or a USB flash drive. I've never used an SD card for data transfer and my iMac has no SD slot. Did you use a SD/USB adaptor or something on you MacBook?

Don't have a Mac but a PC. Bought a cheap SD card reader from Comet, plugged it into the USB drive on my 'pooter, and dragged and dropped 150 odd albums onto an 8gb SD card. Put the card in Bolero and at first thought I could only play one album - the others didn't seem to be there. Asked for help on here and found them (need to press 'selection'on bottom right of Bolero screen, then the file symbol at top left ... perhaps a few times depending how you have the files set up). Can now play all, and read off album/artist/track names from the screen. Can switch between tracks from the steering wheel controls.

Seems to take a long while to boot up when I turn on the Bolero and select SD card as the source. Is that the issue that people are talking about on here and suggesting that a quick trip to the dealer can cure?

Only thing I'd like to be able to do but can't (as far as I can see) is set it up to randomly play tracks from different albums ... unless somebody on here knows different :S

I've just dumped all my songs onto an SD card by treating them as a Playlist. Press the MIX icon on the Bolero and it will play the songs at random.

OK, but I'm a fussy old bugger, and sometimes I want to listen to just one album. It seems I have to choose either to have this facility and not the mix, or the mix and not the single album? I'm dealing with the issue at the moment by switching to my MP3 player, plugged into the Aux socket in the armrest when I want a mix - but of course apart from the volume I have no remote control over the MP3 player, so if I want to change anything I have to pull over and fiddle with the thing.

Beet me to it :giggle:

Anyway I've just ordered one of these Samsung more expensive than above but I liked the idea of the rubber case and the brushed aluminium finish more aesthetically matched the Monster (sad I know  )

I suppose that's an answer, but still a faff pulling one card out and sticking another in on the move (and waiting for the boot up). I would like to be able to switch quickly between the two options. Normally there's some clever b*gg*r on here who says "that's easy, all you have to do is ..." - but it's looking like I'm out of luck on this one?

Thanks for the suggestions though ... people on here are so friendly/helpful! :)

Cheers guys...an SD card reader and a nice Samsung SD card sounds good to me!
