Daytime running light pics equired

Featured Replies

I think I went a little over the top with lighting on my Fabia Sport emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

DRL's are supposed to be linked to sidelights so that they drop from 24v to 12v but I havent bothered dimming them as when my headlights are on they just look mad and dont provide any extra light really

Yet its just passed its MOT and I've yet to be pulled over by the fuzz emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Didn't Switch the Headlights on in the pic as it just dazzles the camera and all you see is white emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

Stop wasting your money at halfords and instead of buying all these naff lights save your money towards a vrs

PMSL

Looks like a Space Ship.

Only at breaking the law if they aren't "E" marked.

oh

don't know, not fussed if there not.... Passed it's MOT 2 week ago and never been pulled. :wonder:

Give the lad a break, it's his car after all

I hope he does not come up behind me in the dark, he will probably get my rear view Fog Lights switched on at him.

DB.

I love the idea of DRL... I've always driven with my dipped means on (side lights don't do anything during the day light). The new cars coming with them seem to mean I hardly ever get flashed now as well! Woo!

It's well documented that you'll see the cars with there lights on much easier, and sooner, than those without no matter what the light levels are..

Only problem is that "extra lights" will always look a bit naff as until recent history they were a boy racer thing for those who wanted the rally kinda look. That, and adding anything to a car can be hit or miss.

personally, I'll keep driving with my lights on and wait until a car I own actually had them from the factory.

... On a slight side note, Does anyone else remember last year a vRS got flagged up on eBay that had had a knock and the owner had fixed the bumper but bodgeing 2 fog light collars into the lower, side grilles. on the IC side.

I guess, you could do the same and fit the new vRS's DRL in one collar and leave the original fog in it's place... In my opinion it'd be the closet to OEM looking you could get if it was done well.. but you'd block the IC. Apparently, though... one European version of the new Fabia has the option of a unit that is both DRL and fog together?

only have one in the dark at the moment! Sorry but better than nothing!

Unlike the others I think that look WONDERFUL and had there been a plug'n'play Fabia vRS Mark 1 installation kit the same I'd have bought one...

My replacement LED bulbs (see picture earlier) sourced after one of the original failed, have failed AGAIN within a week of installing. I'm abandoning them and going back to ordinary incandescents...

Hi David,

Try these Cree LEDs

Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for

Been installed almost a year and no issues at all

I just switch my lights on during the day if it's a bit dull, it doesn't really get much simpler than that. As for the chavtastic aftermarket kits - take them back to Halfords and get your £15.99 back.

Exactly - why spend so much money on these fancy LED strip lights.

Driving lights can look quite good on old boxy cars, like for example a Ford Escort - but not sure they look anywhere near as good on today's euro-boxes.

Ah well might as well join in

Mine on sidelights only :giggle:

Funny enough just got pulled today for them

First time in six months since they have been on !!

Why not ?

Korban what bulbs are you using for your fogs?

Korban what bulbs are you using for your fogs?

Standard bulbs are still there and can still be used as fogs

There are leds embedded into the side of the fog surround to light them up !

Karl

oh cool, so are they actually in the fog casing or outside?

How did you 'strap' them in?

Closer pic would be much appreciated :)

There's a black IS Lexus by me with the same fog light LED setup - looks pretty good too be honest.

Think Karls would look better minus the masks personally - but otherwise I quite like what's going on there.

There are 6 smd led poking through holes in the fog light surround (will try and get some pic's up tomorrow)

Thanks TriggerFish, if you look at the pic again you will notice that both the indicator and main beam wells light up as well. The masks again have hidden smd's projecting light back into the reflectors. Hence the masks (did the same thing with eyebrows in the past)

Remember that pic is sidelights on only !

This is the fourth set of mods to the front lights in the last two years and I still not quite happy with the result but getting there :wonder: slowly.

In the process of trying to make some acrylic "angle eyes" to cover them at the moment

Try these Cree LEDs

Got some myself, look good IMO and a nice half way house to lighting up the entire front of my car!

(I know it's a bit late, but wanted to share.)
