Door mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi,

While out shopping last night, I folded my mirrors up to afford them some protection from shoppers catching them with trolleys and the like. When I got back in the car the mirrors went through their normal routine of automatically returning to their normal positions apart from the off-side which just seemed to bobble about. Further examination revealed the entire mirror was loose and floopy and if I raised the mirror by the tip of it I could swing the mirror freely back and forth but it is very floppy. It no longer works on the motorised foldup system. Has anybody any ideas? the car is only 7 days old and is already booked in at the dealers to have a new indicator lens fitted in the same mirror thanks to a hit and driver. Could this be due to that impact or is it a fault?

The hit and run incident happened last Friday just after I had collected the car and the mirror was perfectly fine up until last night?

I think you answered that one yourself, it had a clout

Yes but why did it work OK all week and then decide to fail a week later?

I would imagine the folding mechanism was weakened by the impact and folding/unfolding the mirrors has killed it.

I expect a plastic part cracked inside then simply broke off a bit later
