Lumbar support mods

Featured Replies

The lumbar support on My 59 Octavia Elegance (facelifted version) does not seem very effective compared to the 04 Octavia L&K we had before and my wife and I get back ache on long journeys. Skoda have allegedly replace the drivers side lumbar support but it doesnt seem any better.

I was thinking about getting some memory foam cut to shape and fit in front of the lumbar mechanism where it forms the shape.

Does anyone know how easy it is to get the seat cover off and if I remove the seat from the car is there a danger the seat air bags could go off?

Thanks.

Have you raised this with SUK or compared with another car?

Your seat could faulty.

I have a similar issue with my bad back and not enough support from the standard seats, so I use one of these:

I only use the back rest simply resting on the seat squab, they will sell separately if you contact them and you can get a colour to suit the car so it does not look out of place

Totally agree. I used to have bad back pain when I had my old Mk4 Golf GTI and using the lumbar support sorted it out. With my new FL Octavia vRS the lumbar support doesn't inflate(?) nearly as much as my old Golf - turned all the way I can barely feel it starting to move :(

I'd be very interested in a fix to this ... without using external cushions if at all possible

Yes I dont like the idea of cushions and so on, this why I am interested to find out if anybody knows how the seat cover comes off without setting off airbags etc, so that I could put a shaped piece of foam in front of the lumbar mechansism to move it out a bit further.

My local market will cut foam to any shape you want so if I could copy the lumbar shape but move it out say 1" with the foam that might work.

The local dealers say they have compared the old Octavia lumbar against the New and they agree it isnt as good but say it isnt broken, its just the way it is.

To be honest the cars great apart from this issue so if anyone has any ideas it would great to hear them.
