Drivers window just gone down on its own!

Featured Replies

My dad has a 56 reg Octavia Ambiente hatch, and whilst in my room I heard a strange crunching noise outside, it turned out to be dads drivers door window going down on its own. The car was locked, and hasn't been moved since Friday night - because of this rubbish weather. Could anyone offer any suggestions on what might be wrong? We are hoping it doesn't happen again as its currently a blizzard outside.

Had that happen to me on a couple of Golfs, one Audi and one Seat. In all cases it was a faulty part of the mechanism that operates the window.

As far as I remember in all cases except one it was fixed under warranty but I don't think it's expensive.

Anyway, that's me experience...

Does your dad keep his keys in his pocket??? he could have pressed the fob without realising it

Good point!

Keyfob!!

I could open my old superb at 30 meters from inside the house

I should state that in my case the windows just dropped down.

Did it open or drop? If it didn't drop than almost definitely it's the keyfob.

Wouldn't that have done both windows though rather than just the driver's side?

Or is that programmable in vcds?
