Shell fuel save

Featured Replies

Had to go for fuel in a garage I don't normally use, Shell brand, and had choice of V power (petrol) or Regular Unleaded Fuel Save. Didn't fill up but took a few gallons of the Fuel Save. Is this the normal 95 RON ? Car is 1.8TSi.

It should be fine, it's the only 95 RON Shell do now.

My favourite garage is Shell so I've been using this Fuel Save stuff since it was introduced (although mine's diesel). Car still runs fine but for all the marketing bulls**t Shell pushed out with it I can report it's made absolutely **** all difference to my consumption!

I've always tried to feed the beast on V-Power but occasionally haven't been able to find any. Using ordinary 95 ron saw a noticable power drop and increased consumption (probably because I use the loud pedal to compensate). Recently on a few ocassions I have had to use the new Shell stuff and it has done what it says on the pump - fuel consumption has improved by 2-3 mpg over V Power. Also haven't felt the power drop off so no need to compensate.

Just noticed I need to update the car details as I picked up the new FL last week. Unfortunately with all this snow its not been out of the garage since Saturday. I'll be interested to see if the consumption is any better than the 2006 model. Still with the new one running on 95 ron I'm looking forward to a fuller wallet!

I've used Shell for the last two and half years with my VRS diesel and it's running fine, runs alot better on Shell than Tesco's.

I pretty much used Shell exclusively (drove past the garage every day and get airmiles) but the week that Fuel Save came out my car threw a wobbly, and took two tanks of non-Shell to calm down (spluttering and noise, noticeable delay in power), someone else on the forum also had this. Perhaps it was a bad batch, as I had to fill with Shell last week and car ran fine on it this time.
