How to install and code Columbus on Superb

Featured Replies

I have just ordered the Columbus unit and it will arrive in a few days. I will go to service for the installation of the unit at the weeknd, i contacted them and they said that they did not install the unit before, so it will be the first time for them and apperantly they do not have enough experience and knowledge about the issue. I searched the internet and the forum but i could not find enough information regarding installation. I need documention, a website or a link containing information about installation of the unit and also coding, if available with the photos and detailed info to illustrate and show the process step by step...

I would be very sincere if you help me as soon as possible...

If you go to local Skoda Dealer they will have access to such information from Skoda, complete with instructions and drawings.

They should also have a standard price for installation of such. It's not exactly a new addition.

I had my broken Columbus unit replaced by a UK Skoda dealer today. It cost GBP 56.00 for the labour charge which was 0.7 of an hour. I was asked for an installation CD which had not been supplied with the car (it was a factory fitted unit), however the dealer had the software so no problem. Seems they needed it to set the language to English. I forgot to check if they had loaded up to date maps but will be contacting them to confirm this. As far as I know the 'hidden menu' which used to be able to show the map and software versions is not available on later Columbus units. You'll also need a 4 digit (I think) security code. Don't know how to get that, but a Skoda dealer should.

fit it yourself its easy, remove the fascia, remove 4 torx screws pull other unit out unclasp wiring block and Ariel connect wiring to new unit and Ariel fit sat Ariel behind dash with double sided tape near the top of dash slot unit in and put the screws back refit fascia or replacement one from dealer if required, turn on unit and enter code and it should work, all the above can be found by looking for VRS STEW in Octy section

The hidden menus are available on later columbus units, they are just accessed in a different way. Once the unit is coded to allow access, press and hold the setup key, keep holding and the first secret menu appears, now keep holding and the second secret menu appears a short time later.
