headlight change from H4 type to OEM HID type

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ii have a 2004 model 2.0L petrol Octavia which came factory fitted with h4 type headlight assembly. since its faded now i am planning replacement with the hid type available as oem. will this be a plug and play type of upgrade. CanIi expect the car to be wired for the xenon range control through canbus. Is there any way to check it out.

Thanks

It is possible, but definitely not plug and play and very expensive to do.

The xenon range control motors have 4 wires whereas the halogens have 3, so I could not figure out how to wire them and so I have had to use the halogen leveling motors and make brackets to adapt them to fit the xenon lamps.

The plugs on the back of the lamp housings are also different between halogen and xenon.

Thank you very much for the information. did you manage the wiring diagram. will adding a additional wire to ecu help in the control. i hope the ecu remains the same since car with both type of headlight were sold together here

other option is to install h4 projector into new normal headlight assembly

I didn't make a wiring diagram I'm afraid. I used an aftermarket HID kit rather then the OEM ballasts and igniters and produced a hybrid of the halogen and xenon headlamp internal wiring using the plug from the halogen housing so that it would plug straight into the cars wiring harness. The plugs themselves just unclip from the back of the headlamp so it is easy to separate them and work out what to keep, what to extend and what to change.

I am also going the same way. get only the xenon housing and use the phiips hid kit i have and wire it up. hope you didnt have any issue with the beam level in the default angle .

I managed to get a wiring diagram of xenon based car and it shows two sensors in front and rear wheel area used for auto beam leveling.

to get the canbus thing working will not be easy until a skoda mechanic is ready to mod it.
