Popped into Skoda in Erdington (Birmingham) the other day, just to do the Cambelt and water pump £450,the stealer strikes again! My VRS has FSSH at the moment, im not fussed about keeeping it Skoda, would rather take it to an independent. Any suggestions please based on experience?

Unit18 are good (and a site sponsor) I think they charge around £300 for cambelt and water pump.

What are they changing for the 450 though?

If they are including the hydraulic damper which really they should then its not a bad price as thats 70quid on its own, most non dealers neglect the damper which is just as important as the tensioner.
