best place to take switched live feed from for electric seats?

Featured Replies

Bought a set of Audi a3 seats that have electric lumbar adjustment. Any ideas on the best place to connect an ignition switched power feed?

Cheers

Haven't tried it but what about the cigarette lighter between the seats? Depends how much current the seats want.

EDIT: Forget that, I think the cigarette lighter is permanently on.

The fuse box itself isn't that far away, is it?

I have read that there are some places in the fuse box best thing to do is check them with a multi meter

If you can't find a wire that is suitable to take the load, you could run a suitable wire directly from the battery positive through to a relay (preferably fused) and switch the relay through an ignition controlled circuit.

Hi HOFMIESTER!!!!

I don't know if this helps BUT:

I have a YETI and had the same problem sourcing an "Ignition Live" circuit. As many modern cars have mainly CAN-BUS controlled circuits, finding a readily accessible point to "Tap" into is not easy! this was how I resolved the problem..........

IGNITION LIVE CIRCUIT

Hope this helps!

That piggy back on an existing fuse looks like a neat idea, thanks for that.

Luckily the MK1 is K-line and not Can bus so I can still take the ignition switch feed from the stereo, then onto a relay. From there I could have the power coming direct from the battery with a fuse as fordfan says but I'm all about the OEM look. I'd like to take the feed from the fuse board or under the dash if I can.

Any more ideas?

yes under the steering column the undertray there has a earth ring and a posiitive feed iirc, thats where mine are wired to.
