I think with the newer engines they don't bother with a engine cover nowadays but I could be wrong.

WHY!!!! I hate the look engine looks naked, penny pinching my 1.4tdi looks so much better with a cover, maybe its because I cant see it:giggle:,I hope I dont have to buy another cover my superb2 has a cover from new,why not on the fabias:wonder:

Prob a way to cut costs I'm guessing I know the 1.4TSI does not have engine cover, but not so sure on the 1.6 CRDI.

Thanx feel a bit better now,I understand how the petrol engine can get away without the cover but a diesel, well it does look as if I will have to fork out an extra £150 for a cover thenemoticon-0106-crying.gif

I'm having a look on the net to see if I can find the pic of the engine bay but no luck so far, hopefully someone with a 1.6 CRDI will let you know.

My thoughts exactly, please let there be a god!!:giggle:

Found one on the net, and it does have a cover as far as I can see I would stick a pic up but it's got the writing across the pic.

Have seen a few new 1.6 diesels in the showrooms. All have an engine cover.

I have an Ibiza Sport CR 1.6 TDi (105bhp) it comes with an acoustic hood over the top of the engine. It is there to keep noise down, not a necessity on a petrol engine. I'm sure you'll find the acoustic hood on you Elegance!

Look out for poor fuel economy and DPF issues with this engine :'(

The diesels have an engine cover, but for 1.2 TSI they dont deliver, also Audi A1 with the same 1.2TSI also comes without engine cover.

I am pretty good at getting the fuel economy on any car may even get a little better than norm,I am aware of the problems but its going to be a new engine so wait till I get a few thousand on the clock:thumbup:

Does anyone know if there is a cover available for the 1.2 HTP ?

I would imagine so but it will cost!

Škoda does not manufacture engine cover for 1.2TSI, i just checked at the general importer for Serbia. Now Ill try Audi dealer, it would be cool to put Audi engine cover with TFSI badge. B)

What purpose does the engine cover serve, and could it be removed to save weight?

sound proofing, much nicer finish in the engine bay no point removing for weight light as a feather just foam and moulded high impact plastic:thumbup:

My personal view is that an engine cover is largely cosmetic. There is absolutely no reason other than vanity :giggle: to want an engine cover. They serve no purpose, sound proofing? I don't think so, It's all about the engine looking cool B)

B)Aye reckon your right:wonder:,its all about the vanity but it does look better:p,still I think it does kill some of the sound in this 1.4tdi 3 pot:rofl:
