Flat Battery after one week!

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Just gone to start up the Octy and the battery is flat! The car has been standing for 1 week only !

This is the second time this has happened and I'm thinking there must be something draining the battery to cause this or the barrtery is faulty?

The car has only done 13k...Will get the dealers to check things when I'm running, am now waiting for RAC but is going to be 2 hours at least!

Any idea's?

Thanks.

Two really useful bits of kit to have: -

The first is a battery tester that you push into the cigarette lighter socket. I bought a Draper one 5 or 6 years back. It's got green and red LED's and shows the state of the battery charge without any hassle.

The second is one of the intelligent chargers that are one the market now and that if you want, you can leave plugged into the mains and connected to the vehicle battery all the time. Ideal if you have a car or a motorbike that doesn't get used much. They also charge Gel batteries as well. Just the job for my MX5. Argos were doing one for about twenty quid, but it doesn't seem to be listed in the current catalogue. That was a bargain. I think that these have finally done away with the old bogey of "Should I disconnect the battery before charging it?"

No danger with these small intelligent chargers.

and a portable starter pack..

Hindsight I know but worth their weight in gold.

did your airbag light come on as a result of the battery going flat?

But don't forget to get a very very long electric lead.
