How do you remove the heater control panel?

Featured Replies

I turned the dial to warm my toes up today and heard a huge cracking sound and now the dial is stuck blowing through the centre vents. Nice and cosy, but a total pain for demisting the screen.

I've tried to remove the dials but it looks like thy need to come out of the back?

Anyone removed them before and can point me in the right direction?

Cheers

alternatively, does anyone know if you can manually change the direction of the airflow? i desperatly need it on the windscreen in this weather.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated..

as per the title really. My dials are broken and I need the airflow on my windscreen atm. Any suggestions?

reach under the dash and see if you can find the control wires and give them a tug? Otherwise I guess you will have to take some of the dash apart....

Swap the dials?

Swap the dials?

I've been trying to remove the dials with no success as they won't come out the front of the dash, and I don't fancy crawling around the footwells during my lunchbreak at work as that's the only daylight I see atm.

If no-one has any suggestions I'll try to get a good look at the weekend.

Cheers

Hi

I tried to remove the heater controls from my car to replace the light in them that had gone and it is a very long and drawn out process which I eventually gave up on!

Anyway, the easiest way I can think that you can sort out the vents is to remove the glove compartment, that will give you pretty good access to the back of the heater controls and from there you should be able to push/pull the cable to change the vent position. You will need a torx bit to remove the glove compartment and if I remember, there are three fixings at the top of the compartment (with the door open), and one either side at the bottom.

Hope this helps

Glove box is nice and easy to get out, just remember to disconnect the wiring for the light
