High fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Recently bought a 2005 Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI Auto and find the fuel consumption to be disappointing compared to my old 2001 Octavia 1.9TDI. Average town and country drive will only see a 34 MPG return . Is there likely to be a fault in the fuel management system ? Any help much appreciated.. KF.

hi i had same problem try taking the EGR valve off and give it a good clean with some carb cleaner, they get clogged over time, mine was well cloged now i get around 45 mpg round town

There's nothing wrong with it, it's automatic, so it will be fuel penalised, for a rough idea if you go out on a clear motorway and sit at 70 mph you will see anything from 42 - 51mpg, if you run in town on a busy day it will be 26mpg, clear day 29mpg, mix of both 33-38mpg, so don't play with it, there's nothing wrong with it, I know I had the same model for 3 yrs.
