TOYOTA AURIS 2.0 D4D

Featured Replies

Anybody know much about the Auris 2.0 d4d?

Spec wise they compare to the Fabia VRS, but with slightly less power at 126BHP and 300nm/221 lb-ft.

I know may sound like a daft question asking on a SKODA forum, but surely one or two of you may know anything about them?

Just looking for a car for my brother wants it to be diesel & jap.

Thanks

2.2SR sounds more fun

I know but its the extra ££ and he doesnt even know what the 2.2SR is about

Came the other way - from a Toyota Corolla 2.0 D4D TSpirit - what a boring horrible car that was (it was reliable though) to drive/own.

Fabia is so much better - convince him!

Civic or Accord 2.2cdti

Got a 1.4 diesel Auris as a company car, drives nice and has proven to be reliable so far (1.5yrs approx 32k miles). Average MPG is around 52, even tho i drive it hard. The only problem i can think of is the seats are uncomfy/not easy to adjust.

My own opinion is that i wouldnt spend my money on the auris as its not my cup of tea although there is nothing realy wrong wae it.

Hope this helps a bit

Not an Auris, but i used my dads Avensis D4D for a good few months earlier this year.

Really quiet engines, you could hardly tell it were a diesel even at cold idle.

I wouldnt say slow either, not considering the size of the car, so i can imagine the Auris being a little nippier.

Good on fuel too.

Hiya,

The cars are very reliable, the 2.0d engine is the same as has been used in the avensis sice about 2005 and they have been pretty faultless really. the 2.0d is the best all round engine, the 1.4d is great on economy but isnt anything startling performance wise. they do a 2.2d 180bhp one but they are horrendusly thirsty and are used in some of the lexus models but some of these have had injector problems in them. you can tell these engines in the auris as they have a D-CAT badge on the engine cover. The 2.0d will do anywhere from 42mpg up into the mid 50s depending on how you drive it.

the interior is solid but some of the plastics do mark easily so just check them over, however we have had some cars in with 100k plus miles on, and there isnt a squeek or rattle off them.

the only common fault to watch for is that the brakes on some early cars squeeked when you broke lightly at low speeds, but there were modified calipers for them which fixed that problem.

the engines are chain driven so there is no belt to worry about

in terms of handling they will never be any where like a vrs but its very comfy. they do tend to roll a bit when you really throw them into a corner. they did a SR 2.0D auris which had lowered suspension which made it a lot better, so if you couldnt find a SR in your budget you could always buy a set of springs. the sr180/t180 did have independant rear suspension which made them really good handling cars, but thirsty engines in.

overall they are a very good reliable car which will last forever and not cause you any hassle, loads of room in them with a flat floor in the back, very good safety with 9 airbags and a 5 star safety and great to see out of, they are just not the most exciting cars.

hope this helps,

Brilliant thanks

My neighbour has had two Auris' Both petrols and his first one was very realible the one he has the now had not been too great, has suffered from a flat battery twice for some unknown reason but he loves his Toyota's, aside from the little problems he has not had many complaints, nice dependable car, well built and as Johnny say the D4D is quite nippy and not diesel like at all.

Davy

I had the displeasure of owning an Auris 2.0D4D (3dr in silver steel) for 6 (very long) months in between ownership of a mkiv Golf 1.8T and an A3 2.0TFSI.

Whilst I cannot complain about the mechanics and build of the car - it was faultless, it was without doubt the most boring, soul-less car that I have ever owned, and I actually look back with deep regret at that lowly point in my life!

Please don't put your brother through that torture!

I test drove an Auris 2.0 diesel TR spec what ever that means...

The Fabia has a much more agressive punch, as mine is standard the power runs out, anyway the Auris does feel slow but it does seem rev happy, and dosent feel diesel at all & that interior is brilliant. 300Nm of torque but dosen't feel like it for some reason? would get boring after a while but hey its not for me.. May go and test drive the 2.2 SR

I would recommend the new Octavia VRS to him but he wont have it.

Do they suffer any common faults and are they easy to service MattyD you maybe able to answer.

  • DMF & turbos are they strong
  • Fuel filter location easy DIY? & do they need special oil like the PD engines

Info appreciated

Which colour suits the Auris better?

Smelt weird though!emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

I can only echo the other posts, knowing someone with a 07 2.0D TR. Done about 50k mile without any probs. Relatively short service intervals but same as a furby. Gets mid 40s economy compared to low 30s in his previous 03 mini cooper.

Personally I think the engine is a little agricultural in the Auris but compared to the PD engines, probably a little better. I speak as a petrol driver after all.

My dad has a 2008 Auris and even though it's faultless in terms of build quality - it is very, very dull and numb to drive. If you're after Toyota reliability, why not try this?

Seems quite rare and could be more interesting to own and drive?

Hi, the turbos are fine on them, no need to worry about that, as are the dmf's. the fuel filters are ok to change also. you dont need to used specific oil in the engines like the PD ones either. the only common fault to watch for was the squeaky brakes but they should all have been done now. the auris is a safe bet of a car, it will never let you down and always do just what you want it to do, unless its be a entertaining car to drive!

Colour wise my favorites are the red and the white

hope this helps again
