Getting Seat Memory to work :-(

Featured Replies

Firstly, hello all - and what a site full of information this is.

I've just taken delivery of my new Superb and think I've sussed most of the toys out, but am struggling with getting the seat memory to store.

I've followed the manual - Turn on ignition, adjust seat, adjust mirrors, press "Set", press the desired number button, and you get an acknowledgement beep. However I don't get a beep.

It did work first time I tried it, but I now want to change the stored setting.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

Paul

Press Set, then Press and hold the number ;)

I think that's how it works anyways...!

+1 for pressing 'set' and then then immediately pressing and holding down the preset number (1,2 or 3) until the 'bong' is heard from behind the dash.

You can also go a step further and assign each key fob it's own memory preset number.

That's what I'm doing but don't get the 'bong'

Do you need the engine running? Just the key in the ignition? Key not in? Are there any other settings in the computer which override this?

As soon as I get the seat to store, then I can code to the key :-)

Thanks for your input so far

Paul

Do you need the engine running?

Yes. I was a bit surprised by this but simply having the car electrics on is not enough.

  1. Engine running
  2. Press [set]
  3. Within 10 seconds press and hold the settings button [1..3] until you get the 'bong'
  4. Within a further 10 seconds press [unlock] on the key fob you want to associate with the selected settings button until you get another 'bong'

Best regards

David

I've just tried this again (several times) and still no "bong" :(

Is the [set] button a 'press' or a 'hold' (and for how long)?

How long do you need to hold the [1] button down for, normally?

Thanks

Paul

Press the set button and release it, then press the 1,2,or 3 button until it bongs, that takes about 1 second if I remember.

I had a similar problem. The seat memory will only work with the seat back in a fairly upright position. Try again with the seat back vertical, then step it back in small increments until the beep no longer sounds. Remember that when adjusting the seat to the memory position keep the button pressed until the seat has stopped moving.

Thanks John - that was it!!

Not particularly impressed though, as 102degrees is nearly vertical and not very comfortable for me :(

Thanks for everyone's help.
