USB Flash Drive?

Yep - got one here and it's superb. USB2 as well. Speed is good for most things, it is still flash though so there are speed restrictions just because of that.

Robustness - seems sturdy enough to me, no moving parts other than the cover for the USB connector itself.

Catches with these things (generally, not just the one you're considering) is that they are rubbish with win9x as it needs a driver disc (I think it's supplied with it, but I only use XP anyway).

It should work with W2K, XP (Home/Pro) and higher, plus probably with most recent linux distros although you may want to verify that with someone more familiar with linux :)

Mine tends to contain XP SP2, AVG7 and the latest AdAware plus some other handy utils :)

Has anybody used the one from crucial. I think most of these drives are much of a muchness now' date=' but I was wondering what these ones were like for speed...also, if they are fairly robust.

Haven't used the one from Crucial, I use a 512Mb Buffalo ClipDrive - not sure if it's as fast as the Crucial one, but does use USB2.0 - and it's plenty fast enough for reading most kinds of data off. I use mine for storing documents and photos (about 1Mb each), and it to use it feels as fast as reading them off a CD...

Rob.

Crucial stuff is generally quality kit. I've got some of their CF cards, and they're fine. I'd check Ebuyer's price before you order, though.

What about this ?

I have the 512Mb one and I've bought four so far for various people from the same seller.

They're tiny sized, and quick too. Delivery takes about 5 days from the US.

They do these in Maplins...but they are

Yes, and a driver CD for Win98 and an adapter to make it look like a standard flash drive.

 Cheers Rob...I think I might bite the bullet and order one. Always gives a bit more confidence if you know someone else has had good service :)

I bought a SanDisk Mini Cruzer 256Mb over the crimbo period whilst in Holland. Works a gem under Windows and Linux.
