Skoda Superb estate review

Featured Replies

Hello again. Further to my recent Fabia vRS review, I've just finished reviewing the Superb estate.

Lots of reviews on the net, but here are my personal thoughts:

Skoda Superb estate on PetrolBlog

Thanks for reading.

Good review - are you sure it was big enough tho?

One thing to point out, Park assist is not standard on the Elegance, it's a £500 option. Rear Parking sensors are standard tho.

Thanks Al. Oversight on my part - I added it in during the proof check. D'oh!

I see you have the 4x4 - are you happy with it? Presumably it has come in handy over recent weeks?!

The 4x4 is excellent - i've had no issues in the bad weather, and the handling in the dry is also very good - an improvement over the 2wd - it is a very confident drive! - almost 9,000 miles on it now, and only issue was a half-heating windscreen....

Economy, not as good as a the 170 manual, but comparable to the 170 DSG.

Excellent review, well written, good comparisons and a few witty comments too - well done :)

Thank you! Appreciate the feedback! ;)

Have to say I'm missing the Superb. An exceptional car.

Really good review. Well written, witty and informative.

Audi quality for Henry Ford money.

Well done.

Great review. And in your test you are comparing it to the current A6. The new one has just been launched in the last few weeks and looks so drab and ho-hum. It looks just like the A8 which looks just like the A4 which looks... well. You get the picture. The Superb looks like nothing else and even though there is a family look about Skodas, I like the fact that they are not just Small, Medium and Large versions of the same thing. See the attached picture from the Skoda World website which shows this nicely. So my point is that even with the new A6 out the Superb still looks miles better and will always be the better value purchase. Lets just hope VW (and Audi) allows the next Superb to be as good as this one.

Edit: fatfinger spelling!

Absolutely right. The Audi approach these days is to decide on a look and then put it through the photocopier at different sizes. The new A6 is a case in point, as is the A8 which is essentially just a bloated A4.

Skoda is on a roll at the moment and produce relevant cars that people demand. I'm testing the Yeti in January and I fully expect it to confirm my suspicion that Skoda is the most relevant and important car manufacturer in the UK.

Cheers,
