Spend £1000 of my money!

Featured Replies

I need some advice.

I have a Mk I Octavia Estate with no mods which I really love. I've taken it on a track day and plan to make another if I can next year, and I enjoy driving in general.

I've come into a little bit of money which I want to use to upgrade my car to improve the power and drive quality. I've had a 5hr trial of a REVO stage 1 remap in the past and this seems a really good way to go in terms of output - but I'm looking for ideas and other options. Lowering it? Different wheel types? I've been recommended rear anti-roll bars, but would I notice this other than once a year on a track?

I really need some help, I'm a proper newbie when it comes to this sort of thing so all advice would be really welcome!

Cheers,

Alex

I believe in making a car as good as possible before mods, so a good service, full alignment, and so forth.

Then with the left over, lowering springs and shocks, downsize the tyre to sticky lower profile rubber for sharper steering and a nicer feel, remap, and anti roll bars?

Remap plus suspension mods first IMHO.

And yes the rear ARB makes the car feel much better in everyday driving.

Whatever mods you make, don't forget to factor in the increased costs in insurance which could see a sizable hole in your £1000 budget!
