Featured Replies

Can someone confirm that the vRS grill badge is the same size as the boot vRS badge?

They're not!

Front=90mm

Rear=80mm

In times of cost saving that's a bit of a surprise!

Looks lush, do you have any of the whole front? (blank out your plate)

I'm undecided on colour, black was one of my options but this could sway it B)

Got to be black fella, having said that I only got mine because it was so cheap, if I got another one (very likely) it will be white.............I think! :S

You could also drop the grille into a bleach bath, the chrome finish will come away as it reacts with the bleach. Leave it in there a couple of days, that should do it.

Steve

For those that have colour coded the facelift grill, how easy does the chrome surround come away from the plastic insert? Are there lugs to snap and lose or is it easier than that?

Anyone have an idea on this?

I would guess the method for seperating will be very similar to the pre FL, this may help you. :thumbup:

I must agree. I bought my black one second-hand, so had no choice. I do like it, though :)

If I was buying new, it would be white with black wheels :thumbup:

Great find. Not sure I like the blue grill bits on that site mind!

Agreed, it's nasty! The guy who runs the site was/is a member - VRStu, iirc he's got a rather tasty S3 now! :thumbup:

Edit: he's actually a moderator, :doh:VRStu

Anyone know part number (and more importantly prices!) for the facelift grille? Can you buy the chrome surround on it's own?

I brought the chrome surround from Skoda Kidderminster, the box and grill are at the spray shop(thought I'd spray the box too!) so I'm not sure if the part number but it cost £36

Cheers, already had a look in there but couldn't see the number I'm looking for. In fact, someone else asked the same question in there and got no response.

The code you need is :- 1Z0 853 661 A - Chrome Moulding Description Number - 739.

It comes in a box like this :-

When sprayed Race Blue looks like this:-

Also had this done:-

Which when fitted to a car (the one thing missing right now :S) will look like this:-

The rear spoiler not the lovely lush grass

The window spoiler you have looks different to the one on the car pictured! Looking forward to seeing the 'fitted' pics. :thumbup:

it's because the 'wings' face towards the car, therefore you just see the 'flat' side like the pic

Fantastic mate, thanks!

Now hurry up and get it fitted and get some pics up! I'm hoping to use the painting of the grille surround as a little bit of bargaining when ordering the new car- but I need pics to let the wife see what it looks like on a Race Blue FL first!

Got one from Fleabay but doesn't seem to fit the whole of the badge area. Is this the what is should look like on a FL? Will only know when the car turns up. The badge was a pre facelift mind so can always glue the one the car will come with on.
