Featured Replies

I have VW CD_7333 Do you know the difference between V7333 and V7343.

If you mean CD_7334 (not 7343) then this is the difference

CD_7334 is East Europe

CD_7333 is West Europe

CD_7333 is what I installed

:( :'(

I was today told by my dealer, that he had checked (with workshop/service dept) - not with Skoda that apparently v6.1 which was installed (disc was also supplied in glove compartment) is the latest version!

Not impressed but I asked if he would object if I contacted Skoda UK directly. There was no objection & he would be keen to hear what they say!

I've sent of my request/complaint via Skoda's website - will it work??? Or does someone have a contact person or number who could resolve this quickly?

Thanks

Stef

Well firstly you know from reading posts on here that v6.1 is not the latest version, so your dealer is wrong.

Secondly, you will get a response from an email via the SUK website but before you get it I'll be willing to bet it'll be non committal waffle which doesn't help you one bit.

I gave up with them over the great sunroof fiasco several months back. I get the impression their emails are answered by someone on a youth opportunities scheme who answers two or three per day in between painting her nails...

Exactly the same response I got from my dealer, although they did say they'd check with Skoda customer services and get back to me.

That was yesterday and no response. I can't be bothered arguing with the dealer - I'm just going to inform the leasing company tomorrow that they have provided an out of date product and leave it with them to sort our. As our firm only allows you to have something from the VAG family or a BMW, and all Skodas are ordered from the same dealer, I hope the dealer will be more keen to sort it out.

Good luck with your case - I'll let you know how I get on!

My dealer has a disc on order after my original disc was lost.

Should hopefully be the latest version.

Phil.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your update.... a shame really 'cos so far both the car & dealer have done well.

p.s. did you get black mats or ivory ones? Ivory ones look good but can't believe how they attact the dirt :-( I assume your first week or two have otherwise gone well? It does feel like a quality car :D

& cheers for the P/code tip, in my first minutes I totally overlooked it, but it's there. As you're one of the few without DSG (other than 4x4 owners) I trust you're also impressed with the gearbox. Its a world of difference to the Vectra we had & also feels more precise than my Golf bluemotion (5spd) co. car.

The mats are as provided by the Leasing company, so are black. They look a bit odd, but at least won't show the dirt so much.

With 18 hours and nearly 1000 miles under my belt, I am pleased with the car; it's definitely more refined than the Passat. The only real niggle for me is the memory seat function not saving when the seat back is more that 102degrees from the seat base.

Oh, and I've not worked out how to get some form of notification if I've got an answerphone message on Orange (as it doesn't have the little tape icon). Other than that, I'm chuffed.

Sat Nav discs are only supplied if the customer and dealer order them with the vehicle. Run a vin check on your vehicle and it will say if a disc was supplied.

My vin check showed not supplied which is the norm. I e-mailed my dealer on the Friday and asked that the latest version was installed, collected car on the following Tuesday. Manager had ordered disc after my e mail and had it and installed on car for pickup.

If my dealer was able to get the latest duisc so quickly I do not see why anyone else could not. Sounds like a standard Skoda excuse. I even offered to purchase the disc, but dealer was happy to obtain for their use. This saved me over £200, so now I have that money ready to get the next update, once installed the disc is not required unless you fit a new unit.

The only reason cars will come with no disc is the dealer hasn't bothered ordering one.

Mark.

Im presuming that the dealer pockets the £200 on every car they dont supply the disc with as surely the CD cost is covered in our £1500 cost for the Columbus system from factory?

The cost of the disc is not in the price of the car, if the disc is supplied you will be charged for it, or the dealer may cover the cost remeber he gets it trade and the VAT back, you pay retail + VAT.

I contacted my dealer about this, here's the response I got:

"I can confirm that the latest available Navigation disc will be ordered and supplied for your car. I don’t know which version is the latest in the UK but the parts department will of course supply this upon request. (Incidentally, the issue about the disk not being supplied is that the car has the facility whereby the contents of the disk can be stored on the hard drive, so dealers do in some instances perform this action for their customers as once uploaded, the discs become effectively redundant.)"

So, to me at least, that reads that the "latest" "disk" will be "supplied". To be honest, so long as version 7 is loaded then it's not super critical if I don't get the disk...?

It will be if the Nav S/W requires re-loading, I would be insisting on a disc

Recently had 2 cars delivered my wifes Octavia and my Superb estate and we got a V7 disc in them both, the wifes one was abit late arriving but the dealer had them both by the time they delivered my car

Would you be able to upload a pick of the disc/case so that people can "show" their dealers that v7 is available?

Good point... I'll be wanting that disc then...!

I have the version 7 Map DVD and works a treat !

If you want to borrow it just just shout.

Thanks for the kind offer... although I'll wait and see what arrives with the car. Skoda UK have just been on the phone and confirmed that v7 is now current (we all know that, but it's clear that some dealers don't). Hopefully when my car turns up it'll all be sorted and v7 will be the norm :) if not, I might just take you up on the offer!

I've saved a copy of the cover... just in case I need to "show" the dealer :giggle:

Ah ha... that's good news that you've got formal confirmation! :)

Did you by any chance get a name? of the person who confirmed this?

I've not had a reply yet from my web enquiry & nor have I had a call back from the customer services - but they did say they'd ring back before the end of the day so time yet.

Is there anything I can say to my dealer or do Skoda UK tell them to provide me with the latest software?

Be great if you could.

Stef

Hmm, he did say... might have been John, but to be honest I don't fully remember

He was quite clear though, advising me to contact my dealer, he even gave me the parts manager's name, although he didn't know whether I would have to pay or not  \i was hoping they'd respond by email, so that I had it in writing, but alas no, they rang back within about 10 mins!

Hi thank you & not to worry,

It will get there at least with the part code number it proves it exists... maybe it got lost on the way to the dealerships :giggle:

re. paying ... Not sure about you but my car's only 5 days old & I really don't intend to splash out for this.

Oh, mines not even been built yet, but I'm trying to iron out all of these little quirks sooner rather than later... I'm a bit of a worrier...!

Nothing quite like planning & preparing... I trust by then, this issue must have been resolved.

you're another DSG purchaser.... having the manual version I feel so in the minority :-( I must at say its very smooth though.

Only gripe with regard to comfort I've noticed is that being tallish (6'2) I wish the seat base was a bit longer, but its the nicest car I've ever owned!

Lets just be clear about this, as far as I can tell:

  1. Discs are not supplied with the vehicle from the factory, they are supplied seperately by the UK dealer. This reflected in the build option code '7QA - Without CD/DVD for navigation'.
  2. Each vehicle with a factory fitted Columbus should be supplied with an original and current navigation software disc. This is necessary to ensure that the copy of the map software installed on the Columbus is both upto-date and correctly licensed.
  3. Dealers who as a matter of course do not supply current navigation software discs with factory-fit navigation units are either mis-informed or 'pulling a fast one'. Either way reusing a single disc to perform multiple installations is going to be in breach of the map software licensing.

Best regards

David

I think you may have hit the nail on the head there David

Yes, I'm moving to DSG, but it's my first automatic... mind you, at "only" 35 I've had some sarcastic comments about it being for "old" people only...!

Being just 39 I couldn't bring myself to buying an automatic... & I thought I was old for my age.... :p but now you can work on your laptop & eat a burger whilst driving, in addition to obviously talking hands free... even when parking if you wanted to be flash! B)

ps. I at least did get a disc.

Oh does the car you drive say anything about your age??? surely not! :D
