Has anybody else had an intermittent tappety noise from the new TSI engine?

I have booked it in at the dealer however other noises have been described as a "characteristic" of the engine so wanted to check others experiences.

I've also noticed the sound as I've been leaving the car running in the mornings to defrost.

Be interesting to know if it is a problem or just "characteristic" of the engine.

In the cold weather you should expect it to be a bit tappety because of the viscosity of the oil.

mine started before the cold snap and is more prominent when the engine is warm??? It is silent on the cold start, well no tappet like noise!

Sounds like it could be the injectors? I have the TFSI engine and they are noisy due to them being direct injection and not common rail.

Mine does it and it sounds like a solenoid clicking over so could be an injector. Does sound like a tappet though. Must get my feeler gauges out and adjust them tomorrow morning.
