Greenline II gets new engine.

Featured Replies

Sorry to hear this Dempsek. Sounds like you've just been unlucky. :(

Mine has been fine so far, 10,300 miles on the clock.

Due to go on the fleet in a month or so unless you want it?

It makes sense to allow engine ( and oil) to warm up and fully circulate ( 90 deg C water temp) before exceeding 3K rpm.

Just out of interest, I thought I'd mention that you don't ever need to get to 3000rpm in the Greenline II.

I've only gone over 2500rpm in mine half a dozen times in 10,000 miles. 3000rpm is 90mph+... in a car tuned for economy and by then you are well past peak torque which is delivered at 2000rpm. Those kind of rpms are more for VRS drivers. :D

Bossfox (CT17?) I might be interested, it would be interesting to see what MPG I can get out of your car.

just started to chase VW Finance for a replacement or other sort of deal. My understanding is they have to prove the car is fit for purpose and of good quality or repair, refund, replace or come to an agreement to discount. VW Finance have another problem in the engine failed in the first six months and under the consumer regulations the car is deemed to be faulty at point of sale.

I have now had confirmation from VW Finance of the disagreement and an agreement to investigate, part one complete.

Yes, CT17. :D

Changed it as I sold my Landrover with the convoy number CT17.

It's a white estate with curtain airbags, rear electric windows, climatronic, spare wheel, rubber mats in boot and all footwells and the leather steering pack (wheel, handbrake and gear stick) fitted by the dealer.

Nice vehicle, but as I said due for the fleet shortly as I'm getting another car.

I doubt I'll put it up for general sale, but I'd let an unlucky forum member have it for a sensible price mate.

Really sorry to hear of your troubles mate. That is truly awful! I hope they sort it out ASAP for you.

Got the car back and it seems to have run OK to our caravan in North Wales 75 miles.

Suggested to go for a drive down to Portmerion area and the wife replied if we can get there - no confidence in the car.

I am in Towyn, kids don't want to go and I think it is into Rhyl to cash in 2p machine points. Once done I might give the car blast (70mph) down 55 and back.

Yes you're correct for continous running- I was thinking of short lower gear acceleration periods where the maxm power/load would be . I quite often find the need for 3,000 rpm + whilst accelerating in my MK6 Golf 1.6TDI(105 bhp) - needs all the help it can give to get a move on , especially following my son-in-law in his VW Passat 1.9TDI (130 bhp) !

I wasn't picking you up it, as a Greenline II driver it was just an observation.

Personally I don't rev to more than 2500rpm before changing gear. Otherwise when you change up you are still over peak torque at 2000rpm.

I think this is why the car is so economical, you just don't have to rev it.

First of all sorry to anyone who thought I should reply to any queries regarding a Greenline II, not sure I can fully answer any questions at the moment.

Engine has been sounding a bit rough this last week and I put it down to paranoia.

This morning the car broke down on me on the way to work with an exhaust system failure, car is now with the local dealer and after some hassle have a courtesy car from them.

So far this month the car has cost me an extra £500 in hire car deposits that failed refund to my account before credit card statement was issued and any refund is not deemed a payment.

Spoke to VWFs who to be honest could see my problem but it was accounts that had to make the decision and write in again blah, blah blah go away.
