Hello from Finland!

Hi!

Actually, I'm not a new member. I've been here as long as I've been a Skoda owner - that makes a year and a half. We do have some really good Skodasites in Finland, as well, but occassionally I just drop by to see what's going on here. Finally I decided to registrate and so, here I am. :rolleyes:

To be honest - it's going pretty darn well! I just could not have been more satisfied. I have a Skoda Fabia Combi Ice, 1.4L 16V. That's an ordinary wagon but I really do like it. I've done 30000kms without bigger problems but winter seems to be a nasty factor when considering the A/C;

It's just that A/C should be run at least once per month but on the other hand, how to run it if the temperature is lower than zero... Of course we have parking halls but mostly open-air, which means that the temperature is only slightly higher than outside. A/C should be run more than 10 minutes every month - 10 minutes is a pretty long time spent in a garage, keeping your motor running. Not to mention that running your motor idle is allowed only for two minutes, maximum. That is set by the legislation.

So, what we end up here is that the only major problem with my car is the A/C. It is really useful in summer with temperatures +20...30C, but winter is a real problem.

Otherwise Skoda has been a reliable car and I'm really looking forward to see the new Octavia Combi live. That will be my next car, definitely.

Happy and safe new year 2005 to all of you.

Welcome :wavey: Our second Finn.

Not sure what to suggest with the a/c, there must be a way round it. Does just driving with it switched on (even though it is prevented from "working" due to ambient temperature) allow it to circulate and lubricate without it actually providing cool air?

I suggest you PM either Ross Clarke or Big K to see if they can help. What does your dealer recommend?

Cheers mates! Feels great to be welcomed. Actually, I studied in England back in 1995-1996. I also visited Scotland and wandered around Edinburgh for a week. Fan-tas-tic place, I'd say. Despite of "stoney" looks, Edinburgh is absolutely among TOP5 cities I've ever been to. So, hello to my Scottish friends! And last but not the least, hello to all of you from Coventry: I spent a year at Coventry University. Still a piece of my heart belongs to West Midlands / Warwickshire...

Than you for this tip. What happens if this periodic A/C use is forgotten ? Does the A/C unit suffer some hiccup later ?
