Squeaking Front Suspension

All done and Fixed!!!! - SuperPro wishbone bushes, Antilift style rear front bushes, front wishbone bushes and torque arm insert and bush fitted.

No squeaks now going over speed bumps, car feels much tighter on rough roads too, far smoother to drive, more comfortable too which is a surprise as many people talk about uprated bushes giving more vibration (especially the torque arm insert) but the car feels more composed now.

I purchased the kit from C&R enterprises (about £130 for all the bushes) and paid a local garage £60 for fitting, best money i've spent on the car.

The Superpro front rear wishbone bushes can be purchased as either standard or antilift style, much cheaper than the Whiteline Antilift Kit.

mines cleaks also over speedbumps getting mot'd this week am i looking at a fail on the arms :S

Probably won't fail an MOT, there was a VW release note on the creaking/squeaking going over speed bumps and have started to fit different bushes to some cars. The bushes work fine, they just squeak/creak.

You make a good point that VW has a TSB out on the issue, however, be careful if you ever present this to Skoda, as they will point out they are A. Not VW and B. Ask where you obtained the details.

TBH, it's not worth hassling Skoda on a VW TSB release, and to be fair they arn't VW.

BTW, Skoda currently don't have such a TSB release for this issue...

Sure we know Skoda aren't VW but if there is an issue which is very similar and the fix is most likely the same I can't see the problem in at least making your dealer aware. I don't think I would be hassling anybody if I was trying to get a problem sorted out. If the dealer is any good surely he should take it into account even if it turns out not to be the same cause.

Wasn't telling anybody to try to get money back, free bushes etc. just pointing out that this is the cause of most suspension creaks/squeaks going over speed bumps. Like I mentioned the bushes are fine and operate 100% as they should but with a noise that is a pain in the *ss.

The easiest fix is to just replace these two bushes for the Super Pro or Powerflex ones (Super Pro have a 36,000 mile warranty)

Then try it, see how far you get, yes, there are some Skoda dealers who will look into it but a TSB has to be raised by the manufacturer for an issue on their version of the platform.

Personally I don't think you'd get far with VW if you had a Golf, they don't seem to have over on the MK5 forums. I think the document is American anyway, what it does do is highlight the problem for anyone needing to cure a squeak/creak though.

Have had car back from Simpsons - Colne follwing a squeaking suspension problem.

I did make them aware of the TSB on page 1, however this did not relate to my vehicle.

They road tested the vehicle and also noted the squeaking noise. They have lossened and lubricated all the suspension points/mountings and a further road test has stopped the squeak !

I have had the car back for a few days now and engineer appears to have sorted this fault.

Full marks to Simpsons for a great service and have restored my faith in quality dealerships. I now intend to take out a service plan with this dealership, even though its an hours travel from my home address.

Got the Octy back from Robert Eardley's in Stoke-on-Trent, top marks to them - they made a full report to Skoda UK, requesting it to be fixed under warranty.

They have agreed to replace the Bolero head unit, as it's stopped responding twice now.

Will have to wait to see what SUK say now.

Good on em, mines still squeak free and still feels tight/composed over rutted, bumpy surfaces.
