Parts question...and side lights

Featured Replies

OK so bit of a saga here....

about a month ago my MFSW gave up the ghost, inc horn and paddle shift and cruise control(my car is a DSG CR vRS)

This was apparently fixed, and the functionality returned.

First question - when they replaceed the stalks, they seem to have replaced both sides.

The RHS stalk controls wipers on my car. Note, the stalk shouldnt have a tilt swtich on the end, or a puch button on the bottom, as this is for controlling the maxidot / MFD trip computer on NON MFSW cars

Now, lo and behold, the replacement does have these useless buttons on.

So, is this how all replacements are, or is it as I suspect and the wrong part has been ordered and fitted.

It doesnt obviously change fucntionality, but it looks a mess to me, and its not the same as the original equipment

second question, my DRL and headlights (dipped and main) seem to work, but switching the dial to the middle for sidelights, the DRL go less bright, as expected, but no accompanying sidelights

seems a massive coincidence that the bulbs would be blown, of if they are, i suspect it would happen when being in the garage.

either way its ****ing me off that all the electrics werent checked thoroughly before returning the car to me.

all told my car has been of the road for over 2 weeks due to lack of parts etc, now the sidelights dont work .

ive also been ignored via email by the garage for over a week, gave up and called today, car in at 8.30 am tommorow, and some vague **** about if the bulbs are blown, ill be charged, and i said no i wont !!!

Can anyone help decipher either of these issues please? particularly the stalk part query.

thanks

Sorry, can't help with the stalks, however your sidelights are working as they should.

As you mention the vRS uses the LED DRL's for side lights.

The normal 5W side light bulbs in the headlight are redundant on the vRS and will never work.

Think Skoda just use the same headlights as on the non-vRS's to keep things simple!

Your car should have Maxidot as standard. I havenet got my CR DSG yet but as it says in the brochure the spec on a DSG comes standard with maxidot

....but switching the dial to the middle for sidelights, the DRL go less bright, as expected, but no accompanying sidelights

that's normal behaviour. when sidelights and/or low beams r swtiched on, the drl intensity is reduced - becoming the 'sidelight'.

as silver mentioned, the normal sidelights r not used at all on vrs models.
