Screen washer

Featured Replies

I keep having to fill mine up quite regularly. Car does not seem to hold that much + the cap does not seem to stay on and maybe I lose some that way - who knows? Does anyone else have this issue?

There's a bit of a knack to clicking the cap back on, I can best explain it as resting it on the top so one side is down then pushing the opposite side down. If you spray lots then that's why as the capacity is only about 2 litres on the standard sized bottle, a short burst at the front should be enough with the fan jets.

It is also possible the bottle is leaking.

Thanks for very quick response! I will try that trick tommorrow. My darling wife claims you must be glued to the computer LOL!

When I ran out of screen wash on my old furby it took a good few litres to fill it back up. My vRS has the luxury of a low washer bottle level warning, and if I top up when this comes on it takes far less to fill it back up - maybe yours is the same and being over cautious?

Did it have xenons? Cos they get a 5litre (or maybe 6.5 like my Polo, not sure which) washer bottle. Also be sure it's not leaking out in the normal places - bulkhead, passenger wheel arch, somewhere near the back of the car - never had that one so not sure where it is!

The standard wash bottle is tiny at about 2l. There are several threads about retro-fitting the 5l washer tank from xenon equipped cars. But it does involve removing the front bumper!

Interesting point. Yes we have the warning light (there are lots of them!!) and perhaps we still have a lot left.

Same here mate. Although my wife uses it as her daily driver....Its going through screenwash like mad atm...

ditto, I think its to do with the salt and continually trying to get rid of it. Living in a flat its almost impossible to clean the car here so I need to take it somewhere to get all of the salt off, I'm waiting until Fri though as we're due more bad weather!

I think the way forward is front bumper off and the 5L bottle and as for Xenons???? I thought all these came with those types of lights. Just been told hardly any of these came with Xenons and cost of putting them is enormous.
