Music on Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've recently ordered a Superb Elegance 170TDI CR. It's already built, but unsold so hopefully it is already in the UK at Grimsby!

I was wondering how to organise my music that I will import onto the Columbus hard disc drive. I understand there is about 12Gb space free so clearly there is potential to store a lot of music files in MP3 format. My question is, do I need to organise the music files in a file structure or does the Columbus catalogue the files? I don't want to search through 8000 files to find the songs I want to listen to.

Cheers

You get 18GB and you can have all your tunes organised into folders.

I have folders of CD-Singles, CD-Albums, 80s-Vinyl, My Mixes, etc.

When you bung in a SD card, you select what you want to copy off it and where you insert it onto the HDD. You step thru the HDD menu to the folder you want your new tunes in and press the "insert here" button

It's got a good organisation structure so don't worry.

You'll need to organise into folders, but be aware that the 'mix' function only mixes the current folder and any sub folders it will not go up the tree.

I have mine in folders by artist and then sub folders for each album. I also have a single short track in the root folder so that I can mix the whole 12GB and to be honest that is what it usually does. If I want the equivalent of a play-list then I copy the tracks I want onto a SD card on the PC and then stick that in the front.

I arrange mine in a folder structure of Artist and then Album with the tracks inside the Album folder. You create the structure as you want it on your PC then simply burn to DVD or copy to SD card and then copy the whole lot to the Columbus HDD.
