Mine with a BMC CDA and running on 99 octane got 71.5bhp on Extreme Motorsports Rollers , Not much point in doing anything really , better off saving up and biding time before a VRS

BMC CDA? I agree though, much easier to sell up and buy something closer to what you like by the time you have factored in the cost of the modification and telling (or not telling and being involved in an accident) your insurance company. You will also no doubt get worse MPG on an already very inefficient engine. You could probably upgrade to the 2 litre Fabia, drive it like you stole it and get about the same MPG as the 1.4 8v but with the benefit of 115 BHP. I'm not sure if the 2 litre has any known issues, but piston ring failure is common on the 1.4 16v, which I suspect is due to people using 95 RON fuel instead of the better stuff which is specified. Going from 68bhp to a measured 71.5 or 75 BHP doesn't seem worthwhile.

Just make sure you do the usual stuff if servicing has been neglected. Spark plugs, air filter, oil and oil filter change, and cleaning the throttle body and running a throttle body adaptation with VCDS are all good things to do, particularly at high mileage :) If you have done well over 100k miles and the timing chain is noisy (rattle from lower right of the engine near alternator) you may benefit from having the timing chain replaced.

My skoda gets around 30 mpg i dont know why it's that low ?

iv been thinking about trying the jabbasport cone in a box looks OEM and keeps the engine compartment looking clean.

If that's US MPG rather than the Imperial MPG we use in the UK 30 US MPG = 36 UK MPG so you aren't doing too bad compared with me.

Things to look at though are air filter, temp sender (quite common thing to fail), and thermostat (the clips on the 1.4mpi tend to break internally leading to it being open all the time). It has also been suggested that replacing the MAP sensor can improve MPG even if the ECU has not logged a fault code for it.

I'm not sure is it us or uk sistem. Here in Montenegro we use km and liter's. Evrey 100 km it spends around 8-9 liters in city driveing !

My Mpi is modded elsewhere so once its got to its heady speeds you can keep it up..lol

That's around 26-29.4 US MPG, 31-35 UK MPG from http://www.markporthouse.net/rangie/fuelconsumptionconversion.htm#

I could be wrong but I think the UK is the only place silly enough to use the imperial gallon and confuse the rest of the world, so it will probably be the US one in Montenegro.

Litres are the same the world over though (I hope).
