Featured Replies

Calling Mr David Cameron please.

Can we have some sort of a comment regarding your pre-election proposal/promise please?

Enough is really enough.

£1.30 and upwards beckons in just 2 short weeks time.

Like all governments - they will lie to get your vote and then reverse their decision once in power - I've not yet met a politician that's a lying scheming, backstabbing b'stard.

If this happened in France, they would be rioting in the streets - but whilst we sit and take an a** f*****g from the current government - they will continue to put prices up until there is nothing left of this once proud nation.

If this happened in France

Take it you've not looked at the fuel prices in France recently then? :D

Ah yes, but Mr.Cameron is part of a coalition. So he doesn't have to honour any promises as he didn't win the election. :dull:

You can bet something like that will be said by the political types...

Take it you've not looked at the fuel prices in France recently then? :D

Nope - I'll take your word for it though..

Although we do have one of the highest taxes on fuel anywhere - or we used too..

Like most government's they will invent a new form of fluid measure smaller than a litre, like a millilitre,

then charge about 40p for this millilitre and make it sound they are doing something about pricing of fuel. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Correct. Just another ploy by HMG to hypnotise us all into thinking things aren't actually that bad after all.

The younger generation have all been conned into thinking that 'it's ONLY £1.30ish a litre, whereas us old un's will remember when it was charged by the gallon, until it reached the dizzy heights of about £1.50.

As usual for this country though, we'll simply roll over and have our tummies tickled and accept it, cus apparent;ly, there is nothing we can do about it.

Granted, last updated in October, but only Norway beats us on the price of diesel....just.

My 2 penneth on this is, Yes the price of fuel is Crazy but yet not everybody moans, and why should they. Have you seen how much the Road Tax is on some of the new cars £4.50 :wonder: : If people are willing to pay this amount every year the Fuel Price is insignificant. Even Haulers complain about the price, but have you seen all the new Wagons out there. There will be discontent when the Rich feel they are being punished, by then we will be out of the equation

I paid £1.32(.9) on Sunday for diesel. :o However that was the V-power stuff. It's £1.20 for petrol and £1.24 for normal diesel here.

The only thing that should not change due to next year is car insurance as you don't pay VAT on that. However I bet companies will still charge extra for the tax change.

Even Haulers complain about the price, but have you seen all the new Wagons out there.

Wouldnt be surprised if its similar to the bus industry, forced to have to comply with lower emissions limits, which means they have to adapt old ones, which can be very expensive, or buy new ones. Bus companies are losing a chunk of their fuel rebate too.

That .9 on the litre price completely does my head in too. :(

Yet another ploy to make you think you're getting something cheaper than you really are.

Think you'll find the rich just shrug their shoulders and get another wad of twenties out of the back pocket to fill the 4wd monster up.

Says who? All insurances are subject to IPT (insurance premium tax), which I believe is increasing as of Jan 1.

Not at my laptop at present, so finding evidence of this is tricky. But I'm pretty sure the HMRC website will contain details.

I will find details of this and post it later.

That's been kept quiet ey?

Insurance Premium Tax

The standard rate of Insurance Premium Tax will increase from 5 per cent to 6 per cent from 4 January 2011. The standard rate applies to most general insurance premiums, such as home insurance.

The higher rate will increase from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent. The higher rate applies to travel insurance and some insurance for vehicles and domestic appliances.

Taken from http://www.direct.go...t2010/DG_188500. A brief outline, but says it's going up. emoticon-0149-no.gif

Saved you a job there. :)

The joy that is computer security - file recovery/ 'forensics', secure coding, cryptography etc - all a bundle of laughs if we're honest. Quite interesting though. emoticon-0144-nod.gif Think I'd rather be playing in our new found snow mind you.

Got another on Monday, and the last one for the term on Tuesday. emoticon-0100-smile.gif Had a presentation this morning, another exam on Wednesday just gone and a couple last week. Annoying really - I need time to riot and assault the police forces, not learn!

You're a dry sarcy funny bugger you are.

Good luck with the exams, even though I still haven't got much of a clue what the hell they're all about. :D

At least you saw the humor it in - most people just find a lot of my 'jokes' offensive. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Cheers - hopefully I'll be ok!

What do all the people here who were blaming Labour for fuel prices have to say about the current situation?
