Wondering on Motorway

Featured Replies

I've had my VRS about 6 months now and its never been great on motorway but i always put it down to tyres (cheap crap form previous owner)

Now having replaced all 4 its still same, i've replaced all 4 front wishbone bushes and broken spring on rear and i've done a 4 wheel alignment on it aswell (didn't flag anything up nothing bent etc and rest of bushes look ok)

Its not all time just anything faster than 65ish on certain road surfaces, its also wore when boots full, i thought i had a leaky front shocker but think it was just condensation from damp weather but i've just noticed it has a non skoda spring (no dot markings) on drivers front and im wondering if its wrong spring for VRS and thats causing it to be unsatable at speed,

I've measured distance to floor from top of front arch on both sides and its same to within a couple of mil, but i have a friend that works at andrew pages and he says you carn't buy a non gen spring for VRS models,

I want to sort suspension out when weather gets abit better anyway springs and shocks but everytime i go near a motorway i feel more like wanting to sell it,

Could one spring really make it feel so unstable or should i be looking at something else

It could be worn out bushes on the suspension causing issues. My old MK1 vRS was perfectly stable and easy to control at speeds well into three figures, cruising on the German autobahns was an effotless breeze.

VRS springs are VAG dealer only. If you bought springs from a Motor Factor they are definitely incorrect.

drivers side spring prob has the wrong loadings as you cannot buy a non gen spring for the vrs this will be your problem as the difference in weight loading will make the car unstable for sure

Thought all of them creeped to the left slightly?

its looks like a motor factor spring, i didn't put it on and carn't find a recipt from previous owner altho i think i can remember her saying something about it having a new front spring on altho i don't know when and where,

Looks like that suspension kit might be coming earlier than i thought then just got to decide what kit best suits car

Sorry thought you were talking about the fabia.

Unmatched, non-genuine VRS spring(s) on the front are dangerous. You need to get this sorted sooner rather than later.
