Featured Replies

Hi, i have a 1.9tdi elegance with headlight washers, just woundering how they are operated? They dont seem to come on with the screen wash wipe unless there is a seperate switch that i havn't come across? Unless they are just frozen up?

Anyone got any ideas?

The headlights have to be on

I believe they only work when the screen wash is operated... and when headlights are on...

Lights were on earlier and it was snowing so they may have frozen, found some info on the mk2 octavia that they only operate after using the windscreen wash wipe on every 5th occasion? Does anyone know if this is the case with the mk1.

Mine work every time I clean the screen with the lights on

Depends how long you pull the stalk back.

A quick squirt just washes the windscreen, hold for longer and the headlamps get washed too.

A very quick squirt will just do the windscreen, but once the headlights are on (dipped, or full), and a squirt of more than about a second is applied then water should be sprayed onto the lights. You will notice a change in the light pattern on the road when it happens, and may see a little spray coming up over the bonnet too.

I manually clean my headlights twice a day in these dirty road conditions. Once when I get to work, and once when I get home again (ready for the next trip out).

they must have been frosted up yesterday, played around with them today and thewy work fine, have noticed as quoted above the lever has to be pulled back for a few second for them to operate. :)
