Featured Replies

Talking to my Local Dealer yesterday and he says there's talk of a Diesel version of the Fabia Mk II Vrs to be launched next year.

This would be good news indeed, be intresting to see how it would compare to a mk1 vrs, that said Im sure it will be priced at like £16+ which kinda misses the point of a skoda :'(

Cant wait tho

Same here, I would like to see this car produced!

i say BS!

+1 its bull****

They have made the audi s1, polo gti, fabia vrs, seat ibiza all with the same engine. no chance in hell they will add a diesel engine in just for the fabia.

And therefore my mk2 diesel will remain one of the fastest mk 2 oil burners around :-)

Audi S1 doesn't and won't exist unless they make it 4WD

Lets wait and see so you can all eat your words emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I Wish, if they did then i will be on the list to order one, if it is a 1.9 CR lump, not a stupid 1.4 D.

I will wait to see this.......

different platform(?) but SEAT do a 2.0 TDI Ibiza FR as well as the 1.4 TSI

Exactly, I'd heard the reason that there was such a long development time on the new vRS was because Skoda couldn't get the 2.0 tdiCR lump to fit in the engine bay and that the 1.9 is being discontinued anyway, so they had to look elsewhere and decided to fit the 1.4 TSI twincharged unit.

Ian

perhaps when the mark 3 fabia vrs comes out they might do a diesel

the posible reason being that it might be based on the same platform as the ibiza and therefore able to fit the 2.0 diesel

Same chassis as the Ibiza so it will fit and im pretty sure externally there isnt much difference between the 1.6 CR and the 2.0 CR anyway.

if it's a mark 2 fabia, it might even be the current 1.6 with a remap.

PQ25 platform (Ibiza, A1 and Polo) is being modified for Quatttro - Polo R is also rumoured to be 4WD and the Fabia Scout might be being updated to have the 4WD.

Wouldn`t think they will introduce a diesel vRS, even if they use the CR140 lump. Well not unless the rumoured Mini Cooper SD comes out.

When will BMW lern they have ruind the minis rep enough, now they are trying to jump on the TD Wagon! it pains me to see this being a classic mini fan :(

Still the CR140 would be a fantastic engine to use.

Interesting, but ultimately a moot point for me as I find the Mk2 Fabia absoluutely Fugly - much sooner have the Ibiza FR diesel.

Looks like Ibiza FR 2.0 TDI is the way to go. Power along with economy. I dont think the Fabia 2 vrs is economical enough. Cant see any sense in making a Fabia 2 vrs diesel end of next year because the Fabia 3 should be just around the corner. (Hopefully with a better design but dont hold your breath).

MkII Furby vRS Diesel = not going to happen, Mk3 is due late 12.

Hello

if they do they should go nuts and put a 2.0TDi CR 170BHP engine in the thing,..... Mmmmmm Tasty !!

it's unlikely it will be faster than the ibiza if following tradition

I hadn't expected it quite as soon as that. This gives the Fabia mk 2 a relatively short life of about 5 1/2 years, and the facelift 2 1/2.

I guess that despite amendments, the basic platform goes back to c.2000. Does this mean the Fabia mk3 will be a late adopter of the Polo/Ibiza/A1 platform or an early adopter of a new one I wonder?

Any leaked sketches of the Mk3 anyone?
