Today I replaced my RNS510 (columbus) with a Kenwood DNX520VBT

Featured Replies

Hi

Went through a huge saga to get my Columbus DAB in before Christmas but love it now apart from no speed display and no speed camera POI warning noise. I did not look further at the Kenwood as the local dealer had one on display. They told me that it would not display climate and reversing info in my 2011 Octavia. They also told me that you could not get a criss cross pattern aluminium surround which I did in the end! Is it compatible with the mk2 climate and parking display?

Thanks

Garnett

  • Nick's a bit of a headbanger - I'm sure he'll be fitting a whacking great sub to fill his boot in the near future........ ........if only to challenge the Protons which were at Chatsworth this year

  • Yes, I haven't swapped the VW logo for a Skoda / briskoda one yet, but I understnd it's easy to do. You can change the illumination on the unit to any colour. I tried different greens but I like the w

It is compatible with the parking and climate displays plus the speed cameras can be shown - but not heard. You just need a bit of vcds tweaking.

Been having a read of this.  I have just bought a 2010 octavia vrs which has a kenwood dnx525 dab installed.  At the moment, mine doesn't work with the parking and climate displays, or with the steering wheel controls.  Is this just how it is, or can these features be added?  I'm new to Skoda so unsure what is meant by vcds tweaking?

It should work fine with the steering wheel controls. Mine did. It might just be a VCDS coding issue.

i'd take the unit out and make sure all the connections are good. sounds like something is either missing, or not plugged into the kenwood unit

I'd say given the connections are quadlock and similar, it's unlikely to be a physical problem.

ive just had the Kenwood DNX fitted to my 62 plate octavia vrs ,  all the reverse sensors work and climate control ( i did get someone to install it for me, maybe there is some software that needs to be changed ) the only issue i have have is the heater controls when you adjust the heat on any side of the car it shows on the screen as the same temp for both sides .

i have the DAB aerial fitted to the front screen however looking for advice on maybe putting a fixed DAB aerial in place of the windscreen mount

Hopefully I can get it sorted then, would be nice to get those features to work.

This is a known issue and if the unit was bough new there is an updated canbus unit (the little black box that attaches to the loom) that can be installed to overcome this. I just lived with it on my other octavia. I haven't noticed if its the same on this one.

Has anyone got the skoda splash screen file as mine shows VW as I bought it second hand.

Yeah, I did. It was easy enough. Can't remember the specifics to walk you through it though now.

I know how to do it I just need the file.
