mufflerectomy fabia

Featured Replies

Does anybody know of anyone that performs mufflerectomy in or near Medway, Kent, if not maybe south east london or even south east england? Preferably with a wide variety or tips. Thanks in advance.

Piper are based in Folestone and they make custome exhausts. Might be worth giving them a call

Ross, I was thinking of heading over the Hayward & Scott in Essex for one. - they've got an excellent reputation for custom systems.

If you do find a place in Medway, please give me a shout...

could possibly be interested. Any ideas on prices if we got 3 done?

do you mean pipecraft, they did a mufflerectomy on my old diesel octy, used them a few times before, alot cheaper then hayward and scott

I did it myself, took about an hour or so and £12 for the metre of stainless pipe i used!!..

Yeah Im tempted for this route too, was it hard to do? mate has a welding machine thing, Im guessing the hardest bit is welding the bracket on?

I didnt weld the bracket on i made up a clamp with a strip of steel wrapped around the exhaust, i then made a piece out of some flat bar i had lying around, to connect the bracket to the rubber mount at the back.

The only mistake i made was ordering the pipe the wrong size. I ordered 56mm, which turned out to be the same as the standard system. luckily i had a piece of 60mm from other exhausts i've modified, so i welded this on as a sleeve then bolted it all together with a u bolt.

Where you located mate?

Haha, nice. I'll have a look into it then, thanks. Friend is quite pedantic with this kind of thing so he'll want to mill me a one piece aircraft grade alu bracket or something excessive if I dont plan the solution

I was also thinking since mufflerectomy is purely for sound I may want to try make the end section 2.5" and see what it sounds like. Im Surrey based, but tbh I travel around the whole of south east anyway lol, not v near you unfortunately :(

Anywhere else that can do this near suffolk/cambridge/essex?

cheers

How loud is this on the motorway? I need a new backbox soon anyway and this seems cheaper. Just wondering

How loud it would be and if it sounds too loud

On my car, sat at 70mph in sixth you can't hear it, sounds just like normal. If you drop to say 60mph, and change down to fifth gear for an overtake, you get quite a deep burble, but it's not hugely loud. Its certainly no vtec screamer, that's for sure. Most of my miles are done on the motorway, and it suits me just fine. Install with confidence :)

Depends if you drive with your foot on the floor. You can't hear it till you floor it. Probes one of the best mods I've done to mine it's just what I wanted just a small bit of noise when I go

And its all legal etc?

Yep all legal, had mine done on Tues at my local powerflow. Best mod I've done! Love it!

Agreed one of my best

Has anyone had it done with a full Miltek system and a Miltek decat? Will it be too loud?

Would this affect my map at all?

What size and type pipe do you use?

Any link if people have done it themselves?

Getting mine done this week i imagine :)

I personally wouldn't go chopping a Milltek system to bits. The only reason I did the mufflerectomy is due to the back box being rotten, and I wanted a nicer sound without having to pay silly prices for branded stuff. If you already have a decat, then removing the back box would make it pretty loud I reckon.
