This is what I asked for when having mine done. The chap eventually changed my mind, as it was cheaper for him to put a brand new tail piece on, than cut the original off and try and weld it to a single pipe. (remember the standard one is actually two pipes, so you would need a Y piece to join it).

Now I just have the spare original box complete with tailpipe in the garage, just in case I ever need to put it back to standard.

Easy,

get you tip cut off the original one ,

Weld this on

or just buy one of these

about £60

any maybe some straight pipe if you are getting rid of the back box ect.

So Because it was more work you didnt do it...... stuff that..... if he wants more cash to do it i will pay him.

Can you please tell me where you get this one?

a custom exhaust place or buy the blueflame system as it has the same tailpipe

Well you don't know what was discussed on the phone do you? It's got nothing to do with it being 'more work', he just advised it would be nicer to keep the original box as a complete unit, rather than hacking bits off it. As for the tailpipe, I wanted something that looked near enough standard, with the sound I wanted, which is what I got.

One of the main points in a 'mufflerectomy' is its low price compared to going out and buying a ready made exhaust. I paid £65, if you want to eat into the savings compared to buying one off the shelf, that's your choice.

Not sure if its quite on topic or not, but a diesel 306 came past me thru town today, no back box, it sounded awful

Matt

hey i had a 306 hdi.... whole exhaust system came off on a speed mountain.... including the cat!

it sounded like a group N rallye car... no joke

 lol, it i`m not sure exactly what it had done to it, but i wasnt keen on the noise it made tbh! You do much to yours? bar muller the exhaust on a "speed mountain" (love that term!)

Matt

I've got the jetex exhaust on mine - just it isnt very sporty and looks exactly like the std one - going to get a mufflerectomy next year some time!

Click the link in my signature. Im suprised these topics still come up as theres are billions of them. ;)

Why bother getting someone to do it for you?

I did it myself, took about an hour or so and £12 for the metre of stainless pipe i used!! It sounds great. Quiet when your cruising but a really great burble when you go for it!!!

excuse the ignorance but what exacltly is mufflerectomy? isit just removing the rear box for a pipe with no baffles? cheers

yeah its just putting a straight bit of pipe where the backbox is

ah so what would be the idea of this? just sound better?

Depends what your opinion of "better" is i guess. I`d deffo try and listen to one before you get anything done! :dull:

Does anybody know of anyone that performs mufflerectomy in or near Medway, Kent, if not maybe south east london or even south east england? Preferably with a wide variety or tips. Thanks in advance.

Have you not got a power flow garage down there?
