2010 vRS FL petrol remap

Featured Replies

I'm sure this may well have been addressed previously but nevertheless, four questions:

1: At what stage mileage wise is the optimum for a remap?

2: Does my 2010 FL petrol have anti remap software as suggested in other posts?

3: If so does this present me with additional challenges during the remap?

4: Based in Glasgow area, should I travel for a Shark/ Revo/ Jabba or try the local suppliers?

Sorry if this has been done to death....

C'mon guys! Help this chap out!

1: There isn't an optimum, I'm planning to drive my new one straight out the dealers and into Awesome GTi for a Revo remap.

2: The ECU on the TSI is encryted but most tuners now offer remaps, it just takes time when the engines first come out.

3: No.

4: There are numerous REVO agents around and their remaps are highly rated and would be my choice but Shark is well regarded too so you need to do your research. I would make your decision based on which you think is the best remap to suit your needs and not necessarily where you have to go to get it.

I am sure others with have opinions too....

2: The ECU on the TSI is encrypted

Is it? I'm yet to see a 2.0TSI Octavia with a protected ECU.

Which means our STS is compatible and Rob Hardle doesn't have to travel any further than the end of his driveway if he'd like one of our maps :)

Was told this by both Awesome GTi a while back and another Revo agent.

The following topic suggests that they are too or am I missing something?

That type of ECU has the potential to be protected, however I'm yet to see an Octavia VRS 2.0T (including brand new 2011 cars) that are actually protected :)

Rob: I have a 2010 TSI Vrs with a shark stage 1 map. Buy the STS (self tuning system) and you can do it all remotely via email.

I've been very satisfied with my map, and the turnaround was only about 8 hrs!

100% recommend shark. Check out if they are offering any specials over christmas..
