Oil catchcan and CAI

Featured Replies

Hi all, next year I want to upgrade to an oil catch can and to a CAI.

To be honest I am not overly sure what i am looking for. I have found this Viper performance catch can on the net and was wondering if this will be any good?

http://www.regals-motorsport.co.uk/oil-catch-tanks/viper-performance-alloy-oil-catch-tank-large-90mm-od-p-1670.html?osCsid=sojape55mmpemk58btre6gutn0

Is there anything better out there? Also what pipes would I need?

As reguards to a CAI how much would it improve my car and the sound? It wouldn't sound too much like a boy racer K&N would it?

Is there any downsides to owning one?

I have been looking at the BMC CDA but is that the best choice?

Thanks,

Damian.

catch can you really want it to have 19mm inlet and outlet the best one is the stage 3 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/174847-feeler-saikou-michi-stage-3-occ/

as for cai the best you can do is just buy a 3 inch piece of flexible pipe and mod the standard airbox with that running as your feed is beeter than a cai but not as noisey as the bmc or abd etc etc

Just emailed the bloke about the stage 3 so hopefully that will be on the way soon.

With regards to the pipes and the t pieces, where is the best place to buy them?

Since I am adding this, is it worht me changing the oil filter as well?

How does the flexiable pipe deal with heat soak or is not a factor?

heat soak isnt an issue or a problem on the intake side

as for the pipe for the catch can look on ebay marine 19mm hose 2metres + Tpiece £19.99 bargain

better than £60 metre from samco lol

The Catch Can, a lot of us have is this one .

As long as the inlet and outlet are 19mm as stated, you will be ok.

I did this DIY install thread if it helps that lists various sites also on some pages for hoses clips etc.

I listed where i got my hose from here: THey also stock clips , joiners , 'T' piece's etc.

or a cheaper alternative

hope it helps

Thats cool, well I will wait for my OCC to turn up first then do the intake after.

Lucky enough Bowders gave me a link because I was originally looking at some very expensive pipes lol.

Is there any law as reguards to these mods, like telling insurance/MOT or can this be back handed?

The catch can should be turning up in a few days. Whilst I am installing it is there any other pipes I should clean out/update whilst I am at it?

Well theres your problem! haha.

So this was what was left of the breather pipe, quite a bit was left attached to the car lol.

The fitting was easy enough, well except for the clip on the bottom pipe. Man that was a pain. Never had anything as annoying as those metal clips. Oh well though its all in now and quite happy. I will get a picture up tomorrow.

The BMC CDA is very good choice, although it's pretty expensive. I have a BMC CDA and a Jetex cat and exhaust and the car sounds stock while driving normally and has a nice deep bellowing when at WOT ;-)
