Great. Rubbing rear arches.. flared arches?

Featured Replies

My back tyres rub on my arches and now my paint is peeling on both sides :dull: I know the best option would be to take the spacers out, and/or raise the car up.. but im awkward and dont want to so whats this arch flaring business? Is it expencive? Hows it done? Who does it? What work is involved?

Contact Unit 18 - they roll wheel arches.

depends how far out the wheel is, if its level with the arch then no amount of rolling will stop it, your just have to bite the bullet and raise it or take the spacers off

If the paint is peeling you now cant roll the arches, it needs to go to a bodyshop and have them folded and the paint repaired. If you try and roll them the paint will crack further and start to corrode.

the tyre is rubbing on it when im loaded up with fat gits so flaring it will bring the arch out the spacers out and adjusters in is the last option.

theres nothing to roll on the rear of the fabia anyway and as it stands there is some sort of repair needed to do with paint anyway so if I have them flaired its going to bring the arch further out, I think next time I wash it the paints going to come off anyway :(

that poor LE

Yeah I agree, but if you want to run it all then go to a decent bodyshop, get them to pull the rear arch to clear the wheels and then get the paint repaired.

Would recomend either of these guys

Your running spacers AND avus alloys?! I`m running them, no spacers, the rear is as low as it`ll go, wheel rubs when i`v got 2 in the rear, but apart from that its fine. Stance is spot on IMO. Got any pictures?

Matt

Get some narrower tyres. A bit of stretch will reduce rubbing. So say go from 215/40/17 to 195/40/17 and it will be alot better.

195 will be quite a stretch on an Avus rim, better off with 205/40.

What tyres are you running?

Oh yeah, i should have said, 205`s didnt rub at all on mine. BUT, as i say i wasnt running spacers

I think I see the issue ;) Diets for your mates :D

AVUS dont need spacers ... simples... there already a 7.5J rim with a lowish ET

theres mine with avus's with no spacers and tbh it would look stupid with some on

Yup, got another set sat in the garden awaiting refurb.

So your running a 7.5j wheel with 205/40/17 tyres, with spacers and your tyres are catching?? I suggest you do some serious manning up, shave 1/2mm off from the spacers, fit 195/40/17 and ditch the fat chicks. Your obviously more worried about the look of the car so fitting 195/40/17 is absolutly fine.

Does anybody have 195 40 17's on these wheels? I dont really wanna go mad on the stretch and the spacers are only 5mm or 6mm cant remember but its not alot, I have wound the coilies up to 70mm abouve the begining of the thread :o for this poop weather. im in desperate need of two new tyres so I may get 195's and stick em on the back. What would you lot do? take the spacers out or have more stretch?

Not many great tyres in 195/40/17 either

Well you know your options now, paint has got to be repaired anyway so might as well get them pulled.

take the spacers off

honestly there is no need at all

the avus's even clear brembo's with no spacer so no point!!

SE SEATS :o NOOO WAYYY!

Takes all of 30 seconds to remove and replace. :smirk:

As for the wheels, i`m with jason, i`d take the spacers out, no need for them, they look perfect without them. I`m not a massive fan of strech either tbh
