Retro Fit Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

How common is this? Thinking about asking Ali at Unit 18 to do it, is it completely OEM? I don't like the idea of after market parking sensors but if it's a Skoda part I'm all for it. Any photos?

Let me know when u get this done how much dude, I'm after this and cruise control eventually.

The accessory kit is not the same as factory, this is why I prefer the Cobra system that we used to fit, the kits are very reasonably priced, very easy to fit and can be colour coded.

Just had some fitted, wil post up a pic later, got them colour coded at a local place.

i'd be interested to see what they look like, i was thinking of getting some, but then got distracted by other mods like you do (well i do anyway.) :S

Very interested in this too

Got some on mine as a factory option, thought they would be a bit gay...

Turns out i love them haha. Would never like to have another car without them :D

Do it :D

Here you go, few pics of the ones I got fitted on xmas eve, don't know the make but can find out.

Installer got them sprayed at a local body shop, he did some on our Mazda 5 last year and they have been brilliant, no issues with sensors or paint :)

Excuse state of car, badly needs a wash, hopefully it'll be dry and 'warm' tomorrow (well above freezing !)

They've never been a factory option - but they are a DEALER option.

Mine are flatter and closer together than the photo above (the outer ones are approx 25mm inboard of the line of the shutline projected downwards and they're also about 10mm higher) - but my car's dirty at present so I won't post a picture...

those look really well :) how did you line those up? i think yours look better than the above, the aboves are slightly too far out to the edges on my opinion.

i bought these and arrived a few days ago, http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/Reversing-Parking-Sensor-kits/Rear%20Parking-Reversing-Sensor-kit

i used a long piece of masking tape and a tape measure. This explains the positioning a bit better

Sticking them that further bit towards the edge helps you pick up things that you may be turning into whilst reversing, balance between cosmetic and doing there job.

Hi All,

I hope you don't mind me sloping in here, I ususally hang out in the Octavia section!!

I retro fitted a set of parking sensors recently to my Octavia.Best thing I've ever done to a car!! Parking is dead easy now!! My dad was so impressed, and as he's getting on a bit, wants me to put a set on his Fabia.

Luckilly both cars are silver, so I know that the set I bought are a perfect colour match for us both.

The kit I used is here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230405599727

Once fitted it looks factory!!

See the discussion in the Octy section here:

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/165648-retofit-rear-parking-sensorspic-request/

What I'm after, if someone would be so kind, is the measurements for the 4 sensor locations in the original factory option?? If there was one??

Thanks in advance

Richard

Is it really worth it? I can understand on a van or huge car like an mpv, but on a little Fabia? I've been driving for 12 years and I'm yet to reverse into anything (probably crack my bumper tomorrow now after saying that! :p). I've had involvements where people have reversed into things due to relying on sensors and them not picking up properly on bollards etc.

They were on my car when I bought it - I was really sceptical but having got used to them they're really good - seem to be pretty accurate too - mine go to a steady tone at 300mm

Hi Sy,

Thanks for the info. Is that a factory setting, or what looked best? When I did my Octy, I used the measurements someone gave me from their factory fitted ones.

I know what you mean Marc, the Fabia is a lovely little car to park, and easy to judge..

But my Dad is 78, and last year reversed into a low trailer that he'd missed in the rear view mirror, owing to some ar*ehole builder leaving it hanging over is drive.

Plus for £15 and about 2 hours work (by me lol), well worth it I reckon.

On my Octy, it makes reversing up to the front of a parked car really easy, as before it was hard to judge due to long back and spoiler!

The price has since gone up a pound.

I can reverse without looking behind me now, it's a dream.

Don't knock it until you've tried them.

I like the look of them too.

That's what measurements i used. They are factionally off being in line with the tail lights. Go further out and they look silly

ive got some genuine fabia reverse sensors to fit. Had them for a few weeks now, just been waiting for a nice day to do them. Got them colour coded too!

Only reason i wanted some was for more 'spec' for the car, and to stop the mrs backing into something! Once ive fitted them (hopefully this weekend) ill post some pics.

Bet there the same as the after market ones I've got. How much u pay?

I got them off a member on her for £30. They fit in from behing the bumper, whereas some aftermarket ones fit through from the front.

Heres my topic with pics.

Retro fitted parking sensors

hello everybody, just a quick question. How do these retro fitted sensors know that you are reversing? What I mean is normally a parking sensor switches on once you put the shifter in reverse but these don't seem to be connected to the gears at all. Are they constantly "on" operation from a local battery? Thank you.

Are they not wired into the reverse lights?
