bang!!!

Featured Replies

Parking octy vrs today in friends car park, parking bays have them metal pole things that fold down, drove over the top of it and bang smacked the underside of the car.

Had a look under there (without jacking up) and what looks like the front cross member (and some sort of mounting in the centre) has got a big dent in it also some of the lower metal torn off, only hit it at about 2-3mph.

the car seems ok no problem with steering and i have not noticed any vibrations yet but i am worried i may have done more damage than first apears,im cheesed off, them, octys are really low.

Can anyone put my mind at rest before i take it to the stealers.

Ps Is that plastic cover under the engine meant to be hanging in mid air like that, seems like its only got 1 or 2 fixings in it.

Yeah there are only a few screw in that plastic cover I thought it looked a bit weird too. I can't possibly comment about the rest though. I do agree with you on the lowness as it has caught me out before.

cheers mate, ive had the car less than a week and dont know the workings of it yet, but i will be very careful around raised items from now on,ive already scraped the bumper twice on speed bumps.

regarding speed bumps, they are meant to be a set high and angle. I've heard (dont know if it's true) that you can claim damages of the local council. Same applies for potholes, but you do need photgraphic proof

Kent Police are wrecking the engines of their vRS estates by ripping off the sumps at high speeds on speed bumps. It seems they havent quite got used to how low the vRS is over the previous Peugeots they used.

re: dent i the front cross member.......

I caught the front of my std Octavia on a raised manhole cover, which put a dent in the front subframe. Right under the left suspension arm, so I was lucky.

Even more lucky, it sheared off some of the gear box mounting........
