I've got the dreaded rear screen washer problem

Featured Replies

Tried washing my rear screen today for the first time since the freezing weather, and got nothing :S

Opened the tailgate when I got home and was welcomed by a smell of screenwash, and a pool of liquid on the tonneau cover :S :S

Looks like a trip to the dealer is required...........I presume they'll rectify it under warranty

Yes - a simple warranty job - no doubt the hose will have popped off, as they seem to do in the estates - reconnect hose and re-clip into place, job done!

Yes - a simple warranty job.

Not guaranteed I'm afraid!

There have been several threads on here now whereby the dealers have squirmed out of warranty claims due to non-Skoda screenwash being used and for the fact that they believe the failure is the fault of the customer for not defrosting the system before using it!

We all know it is a common weakness on the Octavia but the success of an FOC claim will be down to your realtionship with your dealer.

Good luck

Car's going in on Wednesday - I'll keep you posted :|

What concentration of screenwash are you using Bryan? If it's been fine up until the cold snap, chances are that it's popped off when you've tried to use it and the fluid hasn't been able to get through. It's a daft pop-type connector Skoda use anyway. Not fit for purpose in my view....

Also one less thing for them to moan about when you take it in, if you're running a concentration fit for -35 conditions!

Presumably not that good........30 mins labour for removing the rear panels and reconnecting the tube in two places = £35 + VAT, so left £42 lighter, but I have now got a working rear screen washer.......and a clean car

Take a little tip from the Fabia II. Skoda listen to all the complaints of the joins in the pipework and deleted most of them on the Fabia II, no im taking dashboards out to repair split pipes as it has no where to pop off when people use them where they are frozen.

I used a generous amount of superglue on the rear washer pipe connections on mine and so far so good.

Even using cheapo Homebase screenwash they haven't popped apart again, despite freezing up a time or two.
