Im going to be carrying out service on my vrs in next few days...... Is there any particular spark plugs/oil ect you guys would recomend from experience?

Just use the standard stuff mate Quantum oil, NGK plugs, VAG filters. I got all the filters/plugs recently off a dealer on Ebay for around £60. Oil + sump plug, pollen, fuel, air filters + plugs. All original VAG parts- bargain!

if you want to save a bit order from Sere Motors in N Ireland and ask for David in parts - he'll be cheaper than TPS for most stuff
