Octavia Scout or Yeti

Featured Replies

wanting a 4wd skoda and have shortlisted the two. probably both the 140bhp diesel or 1.8tsi. what are peoples opinions? i like them both :0

Need to know more details of what you intend to do with it, if you need carrying or towing capacity, and things like that. At present it is too vague to answer.

Hi,

as Llanigraham states it depends on your needs, however as I see it if you carry a lot of stuff in the boot regularly, then your probably better off with the Scout. If not go Yeti; having driven both that was my choice anyway.

Octavia Scout or Yeti?

Audi A4 or A6 Allroad!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

It will mainly be used to drive me about and very ocasional family outing.

May ask on another forum instead lol

Sorry, but the 2 vehicles aren't exactly that similar. The Octi is a big road going Estate with loads of carrying capacity, whereas the Yeti is a small SUV designed more for off road use, with a small boot.

I looked at both, but I do a lot of off-road work in forests, where the Scout was too big, and since there are only 2 of us also didn't need the carrying capacity.

Unfortunately just asking what peoples opinions are without giving some background of your needs, is like asking is beer better than lager.

thanks for the response, i understand fully your point but to be honest all i need is a good 4wd with decent ground clearance which they both have. i dont really need to meet any other critera, was just a casual post and seeing what people came back with :)

what you said was idea and helpful in why you picked the yeti, thanks :)

Although they might have the same ground clearance, for rough off-road use the Yeti is better, because you also have to take into account the attack, departure and ramp-over angles, and because the Yeti has a short wheelbase and short overhangs at the wheels, it much better than the Scout. It also makes it a more stable towing vehicle.

When I was replacing my Freelander 1 I looked at both cars, but dismissed the Scout for these very reasons, and although the Yeti may not be quite as capable as the Freelander it has already got me through places that I doubt a Scout would have got.

The main thing that lets down both cars is the wheel and tyre sizes, as I have been unable to find a suitable All Terrain tyre for my Yeti. However I suspect that most Yeti (or Scout) owners wouldn't try to go places I will!

Hi again,

yes have considered both but not against each other. Looked at the Scout when they first came out to replace the Octavia II TDI Sport we had at the time; we were missing the 4x4 of our previous excellent Octavia I 4x4 hatch. However we ended up with a Golf 4motion TDI, as my wife was not keen on the combi profile.

Change of job and house move resulted in having to transverse the Yorkshire Wolds and the Golf although good with it's 4x4 had very poor ground clearance particularly for snow. Therefore started looking at a Tiguan; however wasn't so keen on it's looks or dated interior. So decided to wait until I'd had chance to view a Yeti which occurred in August 09 when they brought over some CZ demo's. Needless to say I ordered a Yeti the following week; very impressed.

Recently P/X'd this Yeti after a year of ownership; the strong residuals meant I could afford a new one, with minimum loss on the old and spec options not originally available.

Comparing the two then I personally prefer the interior and seating position of the Yeti over the Scout, also find it's shorter dimensions better for parking and options such as the off-road button useful in snow and that's not available on the Scout.
