DB9 Owner interested in Skoda!!!

Featured Replies

I saw a 54 plate Aston Martin DB9 in a service station in Durham today. I was on my way home from Scotland and queued up behind it. (I took a photo with my Nokia 6230 which won't send picture messages to Email).

I was asking the owner about the car in the service station and he said it was a fantastic car to drive. His was a 450BHP model which he'd had on order for 2 years but he said he was selling it in the summer for a 550BHP Volante version. Lucky Ba5tard. He also said he was a Porsche man and had sold his 911 Turbo S for the Aston.

He then asked how I liked the Octy VRS and said that he'd heard they were a great car. (thought about asking him for a swap for 1/2 an hour). He went on to tell me his every day car was an Audi A8 3.0L diesel which he thought was excellent. i then asked him to lend me

i then asked him to lend me

i think you 'd get a...astom martin t shirt and baseball cap...lol

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

They might even throw in a couple of balloons if I'm lucky.

but he said he was selling it in the summer for a 550BHP Volante version

Really......

How much do you think I'd get for a 51 plate VRS at the local AM dealer?.....

Hmmm, a cup of coffee, an Aston Martin ball pen and a calendar ???

Sorry, I don

it is to do with registration. Here our registration has the year as its number, 04=2004

05=2005.

However we have 2 times during the year where you can buy a new car, March & September . The September reg prefix with 5, so Sept 2004 = 54, March 2004 = 04/

So the Current reg will be AB 54 CDE,

AB would be the area the car is registered, 54 is registered AFTER September 2004, CDE are 3 random generated letters.

I am sure someon will put a link to a site that explains fully, but I hope this helps in the mean time ?

BTW What means a 51 plate ??? Has this something to do with ensurance ?

It's a wonderful logical way of denoting the age of a car on the registration plate.

The first digit refers to the half of the year the car is registered in - '0' if it's the first half, '5' if it's the second half.

The second digit refers to the year, so in this case it's a '1' for 2001. Not sure what happens in 2011... :D

Rob.

surely in 2011 it`ll be 11 and 61 ;)

Can it be, that this is held a bit complicated ???

Hard to understand the logic behind it :o

We have our plates listed by the town you are from followed by random capitals and numbers which can be "personalized" when available.

Example of my old Audi ( Plate isn

Had been googeling a bit there ( liked the ending SEX :naughty: )

But around 499 to 599 Pounds for a license plate ????

Is there a color TV delivered with it or does it contain insurance or Tax

or someting ?????

You get a random one included with the car, but if you want a special one that has relevance to your car/name then you can buy that, like yours on your Audi.

Unlike in Germany, the registration number usually stays with the car for until the car is scrapped and it reveals the age of the car, not the area where the owner (allegedly) lives.

I think this thread could easily be renamed "DB9 owner patronises Skoda owner" ;)

Dave.

I think, i

But to come back to topic : Are Aston Martins as often seen in the UK

as Porsche

..... he's got a helicopter

Whoah ..... I would ask him for a lift in both cases

The are really rare to see over here ... Just saw five in my whole life.

i see a british racing green DB7 GT every morning

guys selling it for a SL55 though

Aren't German plates "personalised" for every driver, as they are carried over from car to car?

Here we also have an registration-date based system that started out in the fifties. We've had the following letter/digit combinations:

XX-00-00

00-XX-00

00-00-XX

XX-00-XX

XX-XX-00

00-XX-XX

The order in which plates are handed out is based on letters first, then digits, so 90-LX-RF is older than 86-PS-NH. We only use (some) consonants (not even all of them), and no vocals, although AA is exclusively used by the royals...

As you can see, the current system is running out of permutations, so the next two series will be:

00-XXX-0

0-XXX-00

which will get us to 2012 or so... You will notice that the new series allow for all sorts of "interesting" three-letter abbreviations but the government has said that these will be left out (for instance, you won't see plates like 45-NSB-1, with NSB being the Dutch war-time collaborating Nazi party...).
