skoda fabia restricted

Yes there is a rev limiter with good reason. To be honest you get so little acceleration at the higher end of the rev range that I wouldn't bother going up to it if fast driving is your aim. It's there to prevent damage to the engine not to stop you going faster. Best way to improve the power of the car is to replace it with a new one, even a boost of 10bhp would likely cost more than you paid for the car. I suspect you could theoretically take the engine to over 100bhp but would need more resources than the Skoda works rally team have and a bottomless wallet. By that time fuel consumption would also be worse. Just get a 2 litre Fabia and get the power increase with similar MPG to what you get now.

lol funny, 1st time havin this car only had it 4 moths only had fords and vw golfs thay nevea did it lol

My old Fiesta 16v had a rev limiter at just over 6000 revs..I think all modern cars have had rev limiters for years. You trying to see if the valves come bouncing through the bonnet to say hello to you? Constant therashing of the 1.4 8v engine will only lead to an expensive disaster as the engine self destructs. And there are several types of 1.4 8V engine, so replacing isn't always a straight swap.

AQW is the most common engine code. I believe my 1994 Favorit had a rev limiter but never took the car close to it, and anywhere near that it sounded like it was about to explode anyway lol. Have unintentionally bounced off the rev limiter a few times in the Fabia trying to accelerate fast and not keeping my eye on the rev counter etc, but certainly never aim to get there.

I remember reading some story about VW buying Skoda and they set up a bench test to the death destruction test of a Skoda (the OHV one the 1.4mpi is based on) and a VW engine, and the Skoda one had some small amount of damage and the VW one was a mess. True or not I would not know.
