Xenon's

Featured Replies

Say I find a guy who has OEM Xenon's on his vRS, how difficult would it be to swap my setup for his? How much money his way would you consider a fair trade?

I think I've found someone who will do it providing it's easy enough. ;)

It would be quite hard I'd imagine as u have got to re route a washer jet to the front fit a auto levelling mechanism etc. If u didn't do all this it would be easy ie take out ballasts n bulbs remove light do same on other car and replace accordingly

I'd want the whole setup but all the parts are on that car so surely it's just removing them and putting them on? Anyone done it before?

Same question goes about heat seats too. Can you just put the heaters in or would you need to buy the whole seats?

Fitting the auto levelling kit would be hard I'd imagine and un fitting it on the other car

Tech1e did this when he built the vRS estate. If I recall correctly it's a single sensor fitted to the rear axle, a wire from that to the car loom, the headlamps plus bulbs and ballasts, headlamp washers in the front bumper and you need to change the switch that levels the headlamps (you will now have self-levelling headlamps). Ask Unit 18 to do it.

You need the whole seat, so you'd need to get back to Seat Surgeons.

Also need the larger washer bottle and headlamp washer pipe work, different bumper bar although that can be cut.

As for the money side, I think it depends on the person. I for one wouldn't even consider it, but then someone else might not be fussed by them. However considering how rare they are, how much it's going to reduce the other cars value, plus from speaking to Ali, it's not a small job, which would have to be done twice, I'd just get em new tbh

it would be a massive job!!

woudln't be worth it at all..!

and p.s for xenon's the OEM fabia xenon's are no better than the standard Halogen headlights ;) (i've had both)

yes they may look 'cooler' but that is it

there is usually a sensor on the front and rear of the car.

then there is often an extra pump for washer jets.

So you would need the wiring loom and ecu for the autolevelling system, then the headlight washer jets (bumper modification/replacement), washer bottle pump, levelling sensors and then possibly a recode on the body control unit using vagcom... just not worth it.

go aftermarket would be the easiest solution with the plug and play kits.

I personally would and am planning to retro fit it peroperly this year hopefully. Plug and play kits are soon to be outlawed. Plus OEM xenons look smart. Just depends if the individual sees it as something they really really want or not.

you can retrofit heating elements im sure

that is true, there is talk about the new MOT rules regarding aftermarket Xenons. EU regs taking over again. :dull:

you should be able to buy the heating elements seperately. Although can be a bit difficult to fit if you have leather seats.

Not according to the dealer I bought my 2004 vRS from. He reckoned the seats were different.
