2.0 PD TDI service intervals

Featured Replies

In May last year I bought an 06 reg Octavia 2.0 PD TDI with 49,000 on the clock. It came with a years Skoda Warranty.

The car is on variable serviving and was serviced fully when I bought it. I drive on fast A roads on my way to work and rarely do short journeys. The car is now saying it needs serviced in 500 miles which would mean it has managed to go 6500 miles between services. What a joke and can this be correct?

Without doubt this is the most un-reliable car I have owned.

So far it has been back for the following problems.

1. A new Turbo

2. A software download to cure an "engine judder"

3. Taken back to cure the window wipers doing a full wipe when I turned the ignition off even when I was not using them

4. Taken back again to replace the suspension strut tops

5. Taken back again to sort the rear washer not working

It sounds like they didn't reset the service counter last time round, a variable (QG1) service can go as far as around 18,600 miles or two years whichever arrives first.

Fixed servicing would be 1 year/10,000 miles.

Failed turbos and dodgy wiper stalks are known issues with the Octavia, as is the rear washer failing.

The service counter can be reset but will obviously go past it's next service as it will start over. If it's 6500 from the last service I would think it'll have another 10k to go, based on the assumption they have used VW507.00 compliant oil, it's very important that the correct oil is used on a QG1 regime.

IIRC the cam belt interval on the BKD engine is 80,000/4 years whichever is sooner, as it's an 06 I am guessing it has already been done recently.

Yeah the cambelt was done when I bought it. To be honest I am beginning to wonder whether the main dealer actually serviced it at all. My mate is a VW / Audi independent so Im taking it to him to check the cambelt and service were actually done. If not then trading standards will be my next port of call.
